Israel war on Gaza live: Israel attacks UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City
- The Israeli army claims the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City contains combat equipment and detention rooms belonging to Hamas, justifying its attack.
- Palestinians are fleeing eastern parts of Gaza City after the Israeli military expanded “immediate” evacuation orders to the Tuffah, Daraj and Old City neighbourhoods.
- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will agree to a deal with Hamas only if the group agrees to its condition to resume fighting in Gaza, as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant insists on continuing fighting with Lebanon’s Hezbollah even if a truce agreement is reached in Gaza.
- Mediated truce talks are expected to continue in Egypt and Qatar this week.
- At least 38,153 people have been killed and 87,828 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza
‘Last night was one of the harshest in Gaza City’: Hamas official
Palestinian media have quoted Husam Badran, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, as saying:
- Last night was one of the harshest in Gaza City, as Israeli forces intensified raids and shelling of civilians, and worked to displace and abuse them.
- We dealt positively and with high flexibility with the proposals [for a ceasefire deal], and provided a positive response. The ball is now in Netanyahu’s court.
- If the US administration is serious about stopping the war, it should pressure Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire.
- The victims in this conflict are our people, and the criminal enemy is hiding behind false grievances.
- The place for the criminal Netanyahu is in the International Criminal Court and prison, not in a position as prime minister.
- The falsehood, lies, and duplicity of international institutions that boast of values and humanity, which use double standards in our case, have become apparent.

Israeli army demolishes school in occupied West Bank
We’re getting reports that Israeli forces have demolished Amira School in the Masafer Yatta region in the southern West Bank. The school serves 70 students from first to fifth grade.
Demolition of schools by the Israeli army is not something new. According to the UN, Israel carried out 36 “demolition incidents” affecting 20 schools in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem from 2010 to 2022.

Residents in Gaza City areas ordered to evacuate
The Israeli army has issued a new evacuation order for Palestinians in several areas of Gaza City, including the Sabra, Remal, Tal al-Hawa and Daraj neighbourhoods.
The residents were directed to head to a “humanitarian zone” located in al-Mawasi, an area on the southern end of the Gaza Strip that has previously come under attack by the Israeli army.
The latest evacuation order comes as the Israeli army intensifies its attacks on Gaza City. Earlier this morning, it launched new raids in its southern and western districts while pressing on in the eastern neighbourhood of Shujayea.
Stranded aid trucks in Egypt deepen Gaza’s humanitarian crisis
Hundreds of trucks loaded with food, water and aid have been stranded on a scorching Egyptian road, some for nearly two months, awaiting permission to deliver humanitarian supplies into Gaza.
The truck drivers, parked on the outskirts of the Egyptian city of El Arish in the Sinai Peninsula, said they have been unable to deliver humanitarian supplies ever since Israel expanded its offensive on the Gaza-Egypt border in May. Some food has had to be discarded, they said.
“I swear to God, before this load, we came here and stood for more than 50 days, and eventually the load was returned because it had expired,” truck driver Elsayed el-Nabawi told the Reuters news agency.
“We had to turn around and return it. We loaded another batch, and here we are standing again, and only God knows if this load will make it before it expires or what will happen to it.”
Aid groups have warned for months that there is a high risk of famine across Gaza.
