UMNO Youth chief will lodge police report at 5.30pm today as death threat looms; petrol bomb hurled at KK Mart in Perak

AS KK Mart Group founder Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan pleaded not guilty at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today (March 26) “for intentionally wounding the religious feelings of others”, UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh found himself fearing for his life amid a pending death threat.

This comes about after the Merlimau state assemblyman received a call from “a God’s servant who expressed his concern over my safety as he heard there has been a death threat on my life”.

“He told me that if the UMNO Youth chief continues to talk on the KK Super Mart issue, he’ll sure to be shot dead one day … As he felt that the threat sounded serious, he has lodged a police report on what he heard,” exposed Dr Akmal in his latest Facebook post.

“At 5.30pm today, I’ll lodge a report myself to protect myself and my family … But rest assured that I’ll not budge an inch from my stance because Prophet Muhammad in Verse Seven has stated that if you help God’s religion, Allah will not only help you back but will also further strengthen your faith.

“I therefore leave it to God and the authorities to pursue their investigation … So, don’t give up on our struggle and continue to boycott.”

Earlier today, Chai, 57, who is also the executive chairman of the 24-hour convenience store chain embroiled in the Allah inscription on socks controversy and his homemaker wife Loh Siew Mui, 53 who is a company director have claimed trial to a charge under Section 298 of the Penal Code today (March 26) by allegedly putting the damning socks for sale.

Also in the dock were the directors of Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd which is the Batu Pahat-based company that supplied the socks to KK Mart.

Soh Chin Huat, 61, his wife Goh Li Huay, 62, and their daughter Soh Hui San, 36, were all individually charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code which was read together with Section 298 of the same Code.

All three were accused of abetting the said offence by supplying KK Mart with the socks.

To make the entire sock-gate controversy seemingly get out of control, a petrol bomb was reportedly thrown at a KK Super Mart outlet in Bidor, Perak this morning (March 26).

Chinese language daily China Press reported that the bomb which landed in front of the store did not explode, It was reported that an unidentified person threw the petrol bomb at the said store at around 5am.

It is understood that staff members were working inside the store when the incident occurred. – March 26, 2024
