PETALING JAYA: Zaid Ibrahim has revealed that the Malaysian Bar’s disciplinary board has cleared him and his firm’s partners of any breach of the Legal Profession Act (LPA) or ethical misconduct in relation to former prime minister Najib Razak’s final appeal in the SRC International case last year.
The senior lawyer said yesterday, the disciplinary board led by Justice Rohana Yusuf had exonerated him, Liew Teck Huat and M Rueben of any breach of the LPA or legal ethics as alleged by Malaysian Bar president Karen Cheah previously.
“At last, the assembly of reasonable men and women made the right decision that we were not to be faulted for doing the best for the client,” Zaid said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Yesterday, FMT reported that the board issued a letter calling on Zaid to show cause over alleged misconduct in Najib’s final appeal in the SRC International case.
The former law minister, who is now a partner in Zaid Ibrahim, Suflan TH Liew & Partners, said the board, an independent body set up to investigate and punish lawyers for professional misconduct, has given him a month to explain.

I like Zaid. He has some faults of which his main weakness has been his impatience - which has been why he hopped from party to party, giving the impression he is a rolling stone, but in actuality he suffers no fools gladly in any party he is in, hence he would flick that party off if he saw no productive gain by remaining in that party. DAP did him a great injustice by marginalising him, virtually putting him in cold storage - that's the problem with DAP, always scared of slightly 'loose cannons' like Zaid, wakakaka - Zaid is a 'loose cannon' because he doesn't care for the 'guli-bearing' political correctness he saw in DAP, wakakaka again.
I used to respect Zaid.

Zaid's only loyalty is to No. 1
He and his small band of supporters claim his loyalty is to principles.
But they forget that we all live in a human society, ultimately, the currency of loyalty is to a person or a group.
A person who betrays one group or one person after another in the end is mistrusted by Everyone.

The correct words from the FMT report reads "In January last year, FMT reported that the board issued a letter calling on Zaid to show cause over alleged misconduct in Najib’s final appeal in the SRC International case."
