Kit Siang asks Bersatu, PAS from Glasgow: What contribution have you guys made over the past one year?

WATCHING the political scenario in Malaysia in the last one year, the Opposition parties do not seem to be interested in the national decline in the last quarter of a century.

They are also not bothered about Malaysia rising up again to become a great world-class country as they are only concerned about further dividing Malaysians by exploiting the 2R issues of race and religion.

It is sad that their insensitivity has reached a stage where their MP who holds a PhD qualification could go around to spread hate speech alleging that Singapore founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Malayan Communist Party secretary-general Chin Peng were my cousins with the implication that I was a communist and not loyal to Malaysia.

Yet not a single PAS and Bersatu leader had condemned such an MP for making such wild and preposterous allegations, even changing the name of the Singapore founding prime minister to “Lim” Kuan Yew.

Why were they so silent on such a clear case of hate speech and abuses of the 2R issues?

The answer is quite obvious – as to make such a condemnation will be akin to condemn PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang who made the equally wild and preposterous allegations that the DAP and I were anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-royalty, communist and spreading Islamophobia.

Interestingly, they could not even advance an iota of evidence to substantiate these wild and preposterous allegations.

Hadi and the Opposition parties are giving Islam a bad image by their abuses and misuse of Islam to character-assassinate their political opponents for this is never the purpose of Islam or any great religions in the world.

What have the opposition parties and their leaders done in the past one year to reverse the national decline whether in the political, economic, educational or social sectors in the past quarter of a century?

Absolutely nothing.

The question must be asked: Are the Opposition parties and their leaders Malaysian patriots who want the best for Malaysia? Can PAS and Bersatu leaders provide an answer? – Dec 1, 2023

Retired DAP supremo Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang was Malaysia’s longest serving opposition leader of 29 years on three separate occasions.
