Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed of Umno reminded Malaysians that during the former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's more than 40 years on the political stage starting in the 1980s, they had all become his victims.
According to Malay Mail, he asserted that despite holding office for 22 years and even being lauded as the greatest prime minister ever, Dr. Mahathir still aspires to accomplish his life's final objective, which is to demolish Umno.
Despite his advanced age, Dr. Mahathir, according to Nur Jazlan, is ready to do everything for his own gratification, including backing PAS, the party he himself once hated.
"Now I know why Dr. Mahathir, when he was prime minister in the 1980s, declared Malaysia an Islamic nation. He wants Umno to follow PAS, which is why. After decades of misleading Umno and Malaysians, perhaps even Dr. Mahathir has woken up and is pursuing the paradise promised by PAS,” claimed Nur Jazlan.
The two-time prime minister, according to Nur Jazlan, has found an easy method to atone for his many "political sins" by joining PAS since he has also been persuaded by the notion that individuals who support the Islamist party would be rewarded and are ensured of entering heaven.
He continued, "That is why even though PAS supporters, particularly in Kelantan, used to refer to Dr. Mahathir as Mahafiraun and Mahazalim (tyrannical and cruel), he is willing to get on his knees because he understands that he has turned into a fossil and an artifact that should be displayed in the Malaysian political museum.”
This, according to Nur Jazlan, was demonstrated during the recent Pulai by-election campaign when PAS, in a last-ditch effort to replace Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as speaker, turned to Dr. Mahathir.
"PAS had actually brought down 'Umno’s historical artifact' to be shown and to campaign against the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate on the Perikatan Nasional (PN) stage.
“Knowing him, Dr. Mahathir will curse Umno with a vengeance on whatever stage where he can speak,” said Nur Jazlan.
