Putra, Pejuang want to work with PN in upcoming state polls

PUTRA and Pejuang have expressed their intention to work with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition in the forthcoming state elections in the six states which is expected to be held in August this year.

According to a report by Utusan Malaysia, the intention to contest in the state polls under the PN banner has been conveyed by the presidents of both parties in a Malay Proclamation roundtable meeting chaired by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently.

Putra president Datuk Ibrahim Ali said the matter has also been discussed with several PN leaders including Bersatu vice president Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee; secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He further asserted that should they be denied the opportunity to contest in the state polls, Putra will be more inclined to be a spectator than to cheer on the sidelines.

“Discussions have already taken place although no decision has been made although PN has already completed their seat allocations,” he told reporters when met after the 4th Putra annual general meeting yesterday (June 26).

“If we are not given the opportunity [to contest] there are two possibilities, either we go solo or sit out of the state elections to prepare the party for the 16th general election (GE16).”

Ibrahim further said his party is not particularly picky about the number of seats given to them just as long as they were given the opportunity to contest as proof of togetherness in the unity among Malay parties.

“It’s even fine if we use the PN logo in the state polls. Let our representatives represent PN if they win although his soul will still be a Putra member.”

Meanwhile, Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir also said his party has every intention of contesting in the upcoming state polls and expressed hopes that there would be discussions about seat allocation with PN soon.

He said his intention has similarly been conveyed during the Malay Proclamation roundtable meeting.

“We hope that there will be some form of answer in the near future to show that the Malay vote and all Malaysians can be united under one front to face PH (Pakatan Harapan) and BN (Barisan Nasional),” he was quoted as saying by the news portal.

Mukhriz who is also the former Kedah menteri besar went on to stress that Pejuang will not give up hopes despite the previous rejection of its application to join PN as a component party.

“We won’t give up. We still remain hopeful that some form of political cooperation can be established that will unite all Malay parties, including PN.” – June 27, 2023

  1. Putra and Pejuang must get ready the cash for the deposit required to stand for election.

In their party ledger, this money should be classified as "donation to country coffers" since they will lose the election and also lose their deposits in the election.

And the parties should budget an amount to buy strong ropes for Ibrahim Ali and Mukhriz so that they can hang themselves after the results are announced.
