Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz has been appointed as the treasurer of Selangor Umno.
The Selangor Umno liaison committee, in a statement, said its chairman Megat Zulkarnain Omardin also appointed Abdul Mutalif Abdul Rahim as the state Umno liaison secretary and Mohd Zaidi Md Zain as the state information head.
The appointments were made at the first meeting of the state Umno liaison committee yesterday.
According to the statement, a stand was reached by Selangor Umno at the meeting to continue supporting the Unity government.
It also said that Selangor Umno would set up a state-level unity government committee to hold joint programmes with the state government leadership.
It said it would also continue negotiations with Selangor Pakatan Harapan to determine the distribution of seats for the coming state election.
The meeting also unanimously agreed to request that the top Umno leadership defend former UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is serving time in jail, because of his huge contribution to the country and a memorandum was signed to that effect.

This bloke has connections with many very powerful cables. Even having lost in GE15 he's worked himself into being Minister of the powerful MITI Ministry. Soon he may become MB Selangor.
Zafrul's role as Finance Minister in Jana Wibawa is still a big question mark. It was essentially a massive money laundering exercise, and Zafrul's story ," I don't know nothing" stinks.
