KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be looking into CCTV footage of cars registered under Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar in its ongoing probe into alleged corruption involving the recruitment of migrant workers.

The management of a condominium in Cyberjaya have been asked to surrender the footage, according to a report by Malaysiakini.

“Three vehicles have become the focal point of investigations (into migrant worker approvals).

“MACC has asked for CCTV recordings from March 6 and 7 as well as April 7 and 8 showing three vehicles – a Mercedes Benz, a Proton Perdana and a Mitsubishi Outlander,” the source was quoted as saying.

Besides the source claiming that two out of the three vehicles are registered under Sivakumar’s name, it is also believed that the MACC had yesterday requested for the footage to be submitted by today.

Yesterday, the MACC confirmed that it had visited Sivakumar’s home as part of its investigations. This came after the DAP minister refuted media reports claiming his house was raided.

It was previously reported that the “raid” was in relation to allegations that Sivakumar had accepted millions of ringgit from an individual in return for guaranteeing a government contract.

Last week, the MACC had arrested two of his aides – his special functions officer and private secretary – as well as a migrant worker recruitment agent. The trio have since been released after their remand order ended yesterday.

MACC officers raided the ministry on Thursday morning, and sources said the commission will be widening its scope of investigation to include senior officials and heads of agencies under the ministry. – The Vibes, April 18, 2023
