A case when absenteeism [makan gaji buta] of its 3 key PN leaders has no impact on overall performance of PN’s MPs

A case when absenteeism of its 3 key leaders has no impact on overall performance of PN’s MPs

BY omitting the very fact that its key leaders have poor attendance record in Dewan Rakyat, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has claimed that Malaysians are frustrated with “the mess of Madani Government’s administration” thus enabling the coalition to emerge “triumphant in terms of performance and image over Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) in Parliament”.

For context, PN’s ‘invisible trio’ comprising Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin the coalition’s chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (who is also Bersatu president) and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang had come under heavy fire in recent times for skipping the weekly Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) sessions at the Dewan Rakyat.

While PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had attended seven PMQTs out of the eight weeks Dewan Rakyat sitting which ended on April 4, the trio failed to attend any, hence were unable to pose pertinent questions to Anwar, in particular after the Opposition camp sparked a ruckus over the failure and wastage stemming from Anwar’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia.

Zurk Ahmad

As in the case of self-praise is no praise, national PAS information director-general Zurk Ahmad has staked claim that it is not strange if Malaysians claim that the PN coalition is more authoritative than PH-BN as the Hulu Langat PAS Youth chief listed out three key areas whereby PN’s MPs excel over their PH-BN counterparts: Quality of debate

At the recently concluded Dewan Rakyat session, PN MPs have participated in various debates in a very active, constructive and effective manner as if they were MPs from the government.

Such excellent performance must be the result of the PN’s actively on-going Parliamentarians’ Settlement initiative, establishment of the PN’s Dewan Rakyat Portfolio Committee, the revised Budget 2023 brainstorming programme by PN and the on-going PN’s parliamentarian pre-council.

Attendance at Parliament

Based on attendance records in the hansard (official transcript) of the recent parliamentary session, PN MPs recorded the best attendance percentage at 94.2% compared to government MPs who recorded an attendance rate of just 88.4%.

This is official evidence from official records that PN MPs have brought the voices of their constituencies to Parliament with full seriousness, discipline and dedication. Team togetherness

Apart from quality debates and class A+ class attendance records, PN MPs also serve in Parliament with very strategic planning and high team spirit.

Their debates are very thorough and fully complement each other. Not to be forgotten, the uniformity of their dress code during important sessions compared to government MPs has further added value to their image.

For the record, PN MPs have made it a point to maintain the practice of donning neckties in Parliament along with other civil servants. – April 10, 2023
