Zahidi says he is no threat to Harapan, unlike KJ
Former Umno supreme council member Zahidi Zainul Abidin said he was no threat to Pakatan Harapan and its component parties.
Zahidi (above) also said that his situation was unlike that of recently sacked Umno member Khairy Jamaluddin, who might pose a threat to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli's future political ambitions.
“I am just a small fry and have never held a top position on a national level.
“However, former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has the potential to become prime minister. If he joins PKR, Rafizi might feel challenged,” Zahidi was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
Khairy was given the boot last Friday by the Umno supreme council for allegedly sabotaging the party during the 15th general election.

Since his sacking, several political parties had expressed willingness to accept the former health minister into their fold.
Harapan components DAP and PKR, however, were less eager to accept Khairy and other sacked Umno leaders.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said his party will not jump the gun, while PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli indicated that any decision must be made collectively by the party.
PKR or Amanah?
Zahidi, on the other hand, lost his Umno membership in November last year after he contested for the Padang Besar seat as an independent. Zahidi lost his deposit.
He previously set his sights on joining PKR, stating that he would be submitting his application to the party on Saturday (Feb 4).
However, during a Sinar Live talk show, Zahidi appeared to be changing his tune by considering joining Amanah instead, claiming that it was “ready” to accept him.
“I will just go with what is easy, whichever (party) that doesn’t cause problems. Because I want to find a place to fight together,” he said.
On Monday, Zahidi claimed that he will be accompanied by some 100 supporters, who are currently Padang Besar Umno division members, in his journey to find a new party.
However, this number significantly increased over several days, with Zahidi claiming that 2,000 Umno members across several divisions would join him.
"I told them that I do not want to hold any position, just to support existing leaders, so if we don't contest (in elections), there is no problem because we have served for 25 years as leaders.
"If you need my services, my experience, I will continue to contribute," Zahidi said.
