MTUC wants reinstatement of income tax contract staff
KUALA LUMPUR — Jan. 3, 2023: The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) has appealed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to reinstate the 958 contract staff of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) whose services were terminated on December 31.
According to MTUC secretary-general Kamarul Bahrin Mansor, said some of the staff had been with LHDN for more than a decade.
Kamarul Bahrin today handed over an appeal letter to the PM’s senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md. Akin.
He also questioned LHDN’s excuse for the termination, claiming that the agency had at the same time hired 700 new staff who were supposedly offered full-time positions.
