“Wishing you every success in meeting challenges ahead”: Dalai Lama congratulates Anwar

THE 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso has offered his congratulations to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following his appointment as the country’s 10th prime minister yesterday (Nov 24).

In a statement issued by his office in Dharamsala, India, the Tibetan Buddhism spiritual leader said that he had the pleasure of visiting Malaysia in 1982 when he was invited to speak on peace and universal responsibility.

“I was also happy to have the opportunity of exchanging views with the late prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman and other leaders,” the Dalai Lama remarked.

Noting that these are “very challenging times”, he further expressed his hope that Malaysia will continue to prosper and “make a significant contribution to the peace and stability” of an increasingly inter-connected world.

“I wish you every success in meeting the challenges that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of Malaysia,” he said, ending his congratulatory message by offering his prayers and good wishes.

Similarly, congratulatory messages had also poured in from royals and leaders from both sides of the political divide for the newly-minted prime minister.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim were among the first to do so.

“Congratulations YAB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim upon his appointment as (the) 10th Malaysian Prime Minister,” wrote the Johor crown prince on his HRH Crown Prince of Johor Facebook page.

kt comments: Coming from a Buddhist family & background, I reckon the Dalai Lama should stay clear of politics and secular world affairs. As I have long suspected, the Dalai Lama is more of a politician than a Buddhist monk, Vajrayana-variety that he may be.

  1. In response to KT's view regarding the Dalai Lama, my view is that the Dalai Lama is both a spiritual leader and political leader. Just like the Pope.

In the case of the Dalai Lama, my impression is that he is a victim of circumstances especially with China in the mix. My knowledge of Tibetan / Dalai Lama history is too shallow to enter a meaningful discussion. But I do recall China had introduced a Beijing approved Panchen Lama to counter what Tibet had unearthed after a search for the reincarnated Panchen Lama.

I do stand to be corrected.

  2. If anyone care to do a proper search with the 'administration' structure of the current dalai pact, the all-in-the-family linkage can be clearly proven.

But nobody care, as most r been conned by his religious outpost, especially with those mystified westerners who support his pact financially.

Wakakakaka… no less than those nazified dickheads who think the Tibetans r a decendent branch of the Aryan super being!

BTW, the PROPER procedural search of the reincarnated Panchen Lama is a long held tradition upheld since the time immoral. The CPC administration just reinstated that process to the dismay of the current dalai pact.

Unknown to most ignorantia, the truth spiritual power of the Tibet lies with both dalai & panchen branch. Both of them r intertwined & none is more 'powerful' than the other. Yet, most the the current readers of the Tibetan religious understandings upholding the all powerful dalai, as been frequently postulated by the western press!

  3. I couldn't retrieve an interview given by the Dalai Lama where he was questioned why he eats meat daily when he is supposed to be a strict vegetarian. He claimed that due to a medical condition, he was advised to eat meat, so that's the reason why he was seen feasting in luxurious hotels with well spread buffet and the like. And when queried why he was sporting a solid gold watch on his wrist, all the more looking so incongruous with his orange religious garb, the Dalai Lama smilingly replied that it was just a gift by wonderful friend and he wore it as an "appreciation". However, ever since that query, he was never seen wearing that watch again.

Apparently, new declassified documents revealed that the CIA had been funding the Dalai Lama for years now, but not surprisingly the US MSM is not springing to blast out this recently revealed this information anytime soon.
