Zuraida insists she’s PBM president despite RoS saying it’s Sng

Zuraida Kamaruddin said PBM will defend all the seats its members won in GE14.

AMPANG: Zuraida Kamaruddin insists she is the rightful Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president despite the Registrar of Societies (RoS) saying otherwise.

Zuraida told reporters that she was still president when asked on the matter at a press conference here.

She also said the dispute over the PBM presidency will be resolved before nominations for the coming general election (GE15).

Earlier today, RoS director-general Nawardi Saad confirmed that former Julau MP Larry Sng was still PBM president.

He said any dispute regarding the presidency of the party needed to be resolved at the party level.

On Thursday, PBM deputy president Haniza Mohamed Talha claimed former Ampang MP Zuraida was the rightful president, as announced during the party’s annual general meeting on Oct 7.

However, Sng has said that he never resigned from his post and that RoS documents proved this.

Amid the dispute, Sng has suspended 13 PBM Supreme Council leaders, including Zuraida, Haniza, Daroyah Alwi, Rahimah Majid, Sathiskumar Govindaraju, Saiful Bahari Sahari, Na’im Brundage, Abdul Aziz Abdul Kadir, Zakaria Abdul Rahim, Muniraa Abu Bakar, Chua Lian Chye, Roger Tan and Albakri Salim.

He has also suspended the party’s secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad and information chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid.

Meanwhile, Zuraida said PBM will contest GE15 on its own.

She said the party will contest six parliamentary seats and one state seat.

“We will defend our existing seats,” she said.
