Saravanan to Opp: Stop kerbau-ing about flood

'Let rakyat be angry' - Saravanan tells Harapan over holding GE15 during flood

Human Resources Minister M Saravanan today questioned the opposition bloc’s conduct of using flood season as a reason to avoid holding the 15th general elections.

He said that if the government was making a bad decision by holding elections during the flood season which would only anger the rakyat, the opposition should “let them be angry”.

“It will only favour the opposition. Surely they don’t suddenly want to take care of our interests?

“It’s merely a political charade... because they are afraid that the rakyat will not vote for opposition after seeing 22 months of suffering,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

Saravanan (above) said this after a special briefing with several DAP MPs to discuss their claims surrounding a shortage of migrant workers in Malaysia.

The Tapah MP instead claimed that the opposition’s reasoning came from none other than PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, whom he dubbed an insan ajaib (mystical individual).

“If there is a general election, Rafizi will appear and confuse the rakyat.

“But when the country faced Covid-19, if he is so smart and clever, where was he?” Saravanan asked.

The MIC deputy president went on to deny that the election would be held during the flood season.

“Who said we wanted to hold elections during the flood? The Meteorological Department said that it might flood after November 15 until January (next year).

“If Parliament is dissolved tomorrow, the general election will be held before the first or second week of November. We would still be safe, no issue,” he added.

Saravanan added that the public had no reason to worry unless there is a change in government.

“I think the rakyat is smart enough, we have done this before, and after 22 months of suffering, the rakyat won’t do it again,” he said.
