Bad weather warning in 12 states, KL

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian meteorological department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for people to brace themselves for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in 12 states as well as Kuala Lumpur.

The warning was issued by the department at 2.40pm today. It said the bad weather was expected to last until 6pm today.


Only Melaka, and the federal territories of Labuan and Putrajaya will not be affected.

All towns in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak are expected to face the bad weather.


In Pahang, the department identified Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera, Pekan and Rompin, as the danger spots.

The other states and affected areas are as follows:
  • Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai and Kota Tinggi);
  • Kelantan (Jeli, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang);
  • Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun);
  • Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin);
  • Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat);
  • Sarawak (Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu and Kapit (Song)); and
  • Sabah (rural parts of Sipitang, Beaufort and Tambunan, west coast of Ranau, Tawau (Kunak and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Kinabatangan) and Kudat (Pitas and Kudat town).
