You're not qualified to debate based on 'party hierarchy' insisted by DAP sec-gen, Dr Wee tells Teo

JOHOR BARU: DAP’s former education minister Teo Nie Ching is not qualified to engage in a debate based on the “party hierarchy” insisted by Lim Guan Eng, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said the debate he challenged the DAP secretary-general to should be between the “MCA No. 1 and DAP No. 1”.

He told Teo not to waste time by coming to the debate alone and to bring Lim along.

“Please bring along YB Lim Guan Eng. If Lim is absent, how can I debate with the top leader of DAP?

“I do not mind allowing you (Teo) to be Lim’s assistant and will get ready a chair for you to sit next to him so that you can provide him the necessary information,” he said in a Facebook post Thursday (March 3).

The Transport Minister also reminded the Kulai MP that she has yet to be elected as the secretary-general of DAP.

“If Lim is speechless or cannot defend himself, then you can help your boss to explain,” he added.

On Tuesday (March 1), Dr Wee challenged Lim to a debate over his claim that the MCA president had not contributed towards the construction of SJKC Kuek Ho Yao located in Seri Austin here.

In response, Teo told Dr Wee on her Facebook on Thursday (March 3) evening: “See you on March 6, 2pm.”

Lim had allegedly made the claim at a ceramah during the second night of the Johor state election campaign.

Dr Wee said he did not fear debating the matter as his conscience was clear in regard to his contributions towards the school's construction.

SJKC Kuek Ho Yao was named after a late philanthropist who had contributed much towards the Chinese community in the state.

Both then MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Dr Wee were among those who launched the school's ground-breaking ceremony in March 2018.
