After trespass report, Muda vacates its election operations centre
Muda was accused of trespassing on PIJ Property Development Sdn Bhd’s entrepreneur incubator site.
JOHOR BAHRU: Muda has vacated its premises used as the party’s election operations centre in Stulang Baru, as ordered by PIJ Holdings Sdn Bhd.
This follows allegations of trespass and unauthorised use of assets there.
Party secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz said they were moving to focus on the election campaign and reach out to the community, including voters in the Puteri Wangsa state constituency.
“We do not want to complicate matters. Yesterday, I instructed my friends in Larkin to quickly find a new operations room.
“They are now in the process of moving to another location,” she told reporters after a walkabout in Felda Ulu Tebrau, Ulu Tiram, today.
Also present was Muda president and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abd Rahman.
Amira, who is contesting the Puteri Wangsa seat in the March 12 state polls, said she would claim the deposit that had been paid under the tenancy agreement after the polls.
On Friday, PIJ Holdings, through its subsidiary PIJ Property Development Sdn Bhd, was reported to have lodged a police report against Muda for trespassing and using assets at the Entrepreneur Incubator site located at Taman Perbadanan Islam, Stulang Baru, without permission, and instructed the party to immediately vacate the premises.
The state government-linked company said the premises were developed for entrepreneurs to start their businesses and not intended as an operations centre for any political party.
Muda had denied that it trespassed on the site, saying the landlord had agreed to let the party use the building as its operations centre.
Meanwhile, Amira said the party had lodged two police reports at the Bandar Dato’ Onn police station over her campaign material being vandalised on Monday and yesterday.
Five other candidates are vying for the Puteri Wangsa seat — Adzrin Adam (independent), Ng Yew Aik (Barisan Nasional), Khairil Anwar Razali (Pejuang), Loh Kah Yong (Perikatan Nasional) and Steven Choong Shiau Yoon (PBM).
Muda is making its debut in the state elections, contesting seven seats —Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa, Larkin and Bukit Permai.
