Terengganu PKR Youth’s women bureau chief to PAS Senator Mohd Apandi Mohamad: Where the F were you during White Flag campaign?

PKR leader: Where was PAS' 'K-drama suicide' senator during White Flag campaign?

Where was PAS Senator Mohd Apandi Mohamad when suicide rates in the country spiked up during the prolonged movement control order (MCO), questioned Terengganu PKR Youth’s women bureau chief Yuslaini Azmi.

This comes after the PAS senator suggested in the Dewan Negara on Oct 13 that South Korean dramas may be contributing to teenage suicides in Malaysia.

“I am perplexed how the senator can be so lulled by his own fantasies.

“Where was his voice when Malaysians were killing themselves because they did not have enough to eat during the White Flag campaign a few months ago?

“Where was his voice when the rakyat were starving, losing their jobs and their homes? Does he not know about the badly affected mental health phenomenon worldwide due to the MCO from more than a year ago?” asked Yuslaini in a statement today.

There has been no proven correlation between South Korean dramas and cases of suicide, she added.

It is very disappointing to hear PAS politicians debate in both the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara, she said, as their arguments are not based on scientific research and evidence.

Yuslaini then pointed to Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff, who is PAS’ Rantau Panjang MP, who was last year chided for remarks mocking suicide and depression.

“I hope all politicians, ministers, senators or whichever lawmakers in this country will stop making a fool of themselves in front of the rakyat.

“You were chosen as an elected representative to resolve the issues faced by our society today, not to blame people.

“If this is the level of performance, it is better for you to step away from the political world because you are definitely not qualified,” Yuslaini said.
