If only Latheefa Koya was still MACC Chief, the tape recoding a PM conversation could have been "verified" by her, as it had been in Najib-Rosmah's case

Idris denies alleged leaked conversation with PM, says it's rude

Former Malacca chief minister Idris Haron has denied a purported leaked recording between him and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Idris said the tone of the person was “rude” (kurang ajar) towards the person on the other side of the line, purportedly the prime minister.

“It’s not true. It’s rude. No, that voice sounds rude towards the prime minister,” he told Malaysiakini.

The recording was anonymously circulated to several news organisations this evening. Malaysiakini had sought verification from Idris.

Asked if Idris will be taking action over the matter, the Sungai Udang assemblyperson said he was investigating the issue.

Idris claimed there were certain quarters who have ill intentions against him.

The purported recording was between two men, with one railing against caretaker Malacca chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali and his alleged subservience to Malacca Umno chief Ab Rauf Yusoh.

The complainant also alleged the current Malacca government was practising discriminatory policies against non-Malays in the state.

The man on the other line was attentive but tried to convince the complainant to reconsider withdrawing support for the Malacca government.

He was also not keen on involving DAP in the Malacca government, stating that he had also resisted forming a unity government with them at the federal level and suggested a confidence and supply agreement instead.

They also spoke of Rauf’s purported discussion of the Malacca crisis with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, bypassing the prime minister.

The complainant also lamented that no other senior Umno leader, including Zahid, had reached out to him.

Failed coup

Idris, a long-time Umno man and former Malacca chief minister from 2013 to 2018, had sought to oust his party colleague Sulaiman as the chief minister.

In an apparent attempt to fulfil his ambition for a political comeback as the chief minister, Idris recruited three other assemblypersons, namely Umno’s Pantai Kundor assemblyperson Nor Azman Hassan, Bersatu’s Telok Mas assemblyperson Noor Effandi Ahmad and independent assemblyperson Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu) who previously defected from DAP.

Together, they announced on Oct 4 that they were withdrawing support for Sulaiman’s government.

The Umno and Bersatu rogues have since been sacked by their parties.

The BN-PN government in Malacca came to power in March 2020 after it ousted the democratically-elected Pakatan Harapan-led state government through defections.

Controlling 17 out of 28 assemblypersons in the Malacca assembly, the BN-PN coalition governed for almost two years before its numbers were reduced to 13.

This was after Idris’ group of four rebels withdrew support for Sulaiman’s government and courted Harapan to form a new state government.

However, Idris was outmanoeuvred when Sulaiman asked for a dissolution of the state assembly and state governor Mohd Ali Rustam, who is an Umno man and served as chief minister from 1999 to 2013, agreed.

The dissolution was gazetted on Oct 5, paving way for fresh polls within 60 days.

However, Ismail Sabri can seek a localised emergency, similar to the one declared in Sarawak, to postpone polls beyond the deadline.

  1. I hope KT can get a copy of this tape because it is very easy to confirm the identities using Voice Recognition technology.

Just like KT confirm and conclude using Facial Recognition the identity of the people in the Sheraton Sandakan video....ting ting ting.....all the dots match up so it must be so and so, no doubt, every week can playback as Ulangkaji.

So thank you Latheefa for exposing the Jibby-Rosie tape quickly ....otherwise it might have been covered up like the current $6 million dollar Spy case where MACC Left Hand is investigating MACC Right Hand....ha ha ha....we know how that will end up....or why the Polis is so dead-set against IPCMC because they dun want independent investigation on polis custodial deaths, they want to do self-investigation so easier to cover-up.

In fact Jibby even used his recorded tape to "prove" his innocence...ha ha ha....so lucu....

Recordings vindicate my case - Najib
    Jan 8, 2020

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak claims to be vindicated by the tapped phone calls released by the MACC this morning.

Referring to the recorded phone conversations between him and United Arab Emirates crown prince Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan on July 22, 2016, he said the recordings proved he had not been lying about the 1MDB scandal.

Najib said it showed an attempt to resolve the 1MDB matter amicably between the two countries, and that he and his stepson Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz were unaware of the source of the funds invested in Riza’s company Red Granite Pictures.

“What happened was that after Riza started repaying the investments, the company Aabar BVI was closed in late 2014.

  2. See lah, if Latheefa was the MACC chief she would have expose everything before the evidence is hidden, now under the current management MACC insist want to do "Self-Investigation", but sure got cover-up. The "investigation" bola will tendang sini tendang sana and go nowhere like Teoh Beng Hock case.

Other offences exist in MACC’s missing millions case, AGC says
    FMT Reporters -October 12, 2021

PETALING JAYA: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has found that other offences exist in the case of the US$6.94 million (RM28.95 million) that went missing from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and has asked relevant enforcement agencies to investigate further.

“The investigation paper has been returned for further action,” a statement from the ACG today read.

MACC had earlier said that three senior officers had been arrested in relation to the case, which involved money seized from “a former department head” that had gone missing.

The trio had been remanded for six days to assist in an investigation into abuse of power and malpractice in relation to the missing funds.

A blog named Edisi Siasat had alleged in August that a portion of the money confiscated from a Cyberjaya condominium in 2018, believed to belong to former Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation director-general Hasanah Abdul Hamid, had gone missing, and claimed it had been taken by three MACC officers.

The post asserted that after Hasanah was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal by the High Court this year, she had attempted to reclaim the money, only to learn that some of it had gone missing and had been replaced with counterfeit money.

Silence From The MOF As The MACC Investigates Itself?
    20 Sep 2021

.....the Ministry of Finance have shown a level of disinterest in the theft of its own money that is reminiscent of the days when Najib was in charge (could this be because Najib is reportedly back in charge?). As a result, no police report has been made and the MACC has been left to investigate its own alleged involvement in that theft.

There has been confusion surrounding the present incarceration of three MACC officers who were remanded on September 14th for 6 days by a magistrates court over the astonishing allegation they had substituted US$6 million that had been held under their custody since 2018 with counterfeit notes. The three are reputed to be senior and close advisors to the very head of the anti-corruption body, Azam Baki.

Sarawak Report is reliably informed that the only police report filed so far in the case was back in 2018 when Hasanah, the ex-director-general of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO), reported that the cash, which was confiscated $100 notes after being found hidden in her house, was not hers to take.

She was later charged with filching a total of $12.1m brought into the country through KL airport in April-May of 2018. The reporting indicated the money was derived from the thefts from 1MDB and meant to be used influence the election, which Hasanah had already realised her boss was going to lose. She spent a chunk of it on a batch of hugely expensive watches and secreted the rest.

Back last October when the case came to trial the court was informed by prosecutors that Hasanah “had received contributions amounting to US$12.1 million” from an external party and “misappropriated the funds by instructing her officers to make six luxury watches purchases, made payments to third parties and transported the remaining monies out without handing them over to the division nor the government.” However, Hasanah had already placed her report saying the money was not hers to confiscate.
