“Plunderer” Najib grew M’sia reserves to RM2 tril, Pekan MP mocks Dr M

MOCKING his former mentor’s confusing messages, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak asked Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on how Malaysia had RM2 tril in savings when it was claimed that the former had bankrupted the nation.

“Strange indeed. Didn’t Mahathir accuse me of bankrupting the country after taking over the premiership from me?

“How come the current Perikatan Nasional Government managed to amass RM600 bil to spend in such short notice? Did Lim Guan Eng (former Finance Minister) saved up this sum? Did Mahathir and his family contributed the sum from their vast fortunes?

“Perhaps Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin contributed his savings, which he had saved from childhood,” he said on his Facebook page.

Recently, Mahathir poured scorn on his another protégé turned arch-nemesis, Muhyiddin for borrowing too much to spend during the pandemic crisis.

The nonagenarian said that Malaysia has the flexibility to further tap RM2 tril worth of savings in the country, to turnaround the economy ravaged by COVID-19.

Najib said that all the accusations that Malaysia had gone bankrupt under his administration was proven wrong when the country has not gone bust despite spending RM600 bil during the economic crisis.

“Under my administration, the country’s wealth soared from RM800 bil to RM1.2 tril, which is now helping to mitigate the effects of COVID-19.

“But don’t even think that Mahathir will acknowledge this. We can’t expect the man who accused me of being a thief suddenly turning around saying that Malaysia’s wealth grew during my time,” the Pekan MP remarked. – May 22, 2021

1 trillion is EPF and other retirement funds
1 trillion is national assets (meaning owned by all Malaysians) like Petronas, land, utilities, buildings etc.
