JOHOR BAHRU: A frozen food supplier, its director and manager, who had already been charged with using fake trade descriptions, were today slapped with more charges in the sessions court here for offences relating to what has been dubbed the “meat cartel” issue.

LY Frozen Food Sdn Bhd, its director Yong Chee Keong, 40, and manager Chong Kim Kuang, 48, were charged with four counts each of abetment and possession of prohibited goods worth RM643,465.39 on Dec 15 last year.

Yong claimed trial after the charges against him were read out together with those against the company before Judge Wan Mohd Nor Hisham Wan Yaakob.

Chong claimed trial before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman in a separate court.

According to the charge sheet, Yong, who also appeared on behalf of the company, along with Tan Siew Huak, 42, who is still at large, was charged with four counts of possessing prohibited goods worth RM643,465.39.

Chong faces four charges of colluding with LY Frozen Food, Yong and Tan over possession of the prohibited goods.

The offences were committed at No 663, Jalan 3/4, Desa Idaman Industrial Estate in Senai, Kulai on Dec 15 last year.

Among the prohibited items were 821 boxes of frozen beef under the Warrnambool brand, 264 boxes of frozen lamb under the Viro Carni brand and 252 boxes of frozen chicken under the Seara brand.

kt notes:

The scandalous issue related to the not-too-recent "meat cartel" scam went on for 40 over years.

If we note, the two accused are aged 40 and 48. The elder one would have been 8 years old when the scam of conning Muslims into buying un-halal frozen meat, some of which were kangaroo meat, started and then went on for many years.

This is not to mean they are automatically cleared of the present charges of the mentioned possessions of illicit frozen food.

But nonetheless, if these two are successfully charged, their proven guilt will lift enormous pressure from the shoulders of government officials and top brass involved in the 40-years "affair", to wit, the scandalous non-halal frozen meat con-job. Yes, it'll be as if the WHOLE scandal has been solved.

Yes sir, it will be all smoke and mirrors.

  2. Standard operating procedure.

Find some Cinapek or Keling, arrest and charge them, maybe one or two VERY low level Government staff, clerk or office boy level.

Some years ago two RMAF F-5E jet engines were stolen from from an RMAF base.

The F-5E are old planes, but engines in good working condition are worth plenty of money on the Black Market for countries which are under US Sanctions and unable to buy legal supplies and spares.

True to SOP, the ones charged and jailed were two Keling Botol and very junior RMAF store hands.

Nobody else faced any legal action...

    Bursa lah..
