UMNO AGM | Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob and supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman are ready to let go of their posts in the Perikatan Nasional government when the time comes.

This was after the Umno general assembly ratified the supreme council's decision to end ties with Bersatu - which heads PN - when Parliament is dissolved.

Ismail (above), who is the highest-ranking Umno leader in government, said he would abide by the party's decision.

"As a party member and leader, the party's decision whether it is the supreme council or the AGM, is the highest authority in the party, and of course we must abide," the defence minister told reporters when asked whether he agreed with the exit plan.

Party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said that Umno may quit at any time if PN delays the national polls - which Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin assured would be held once the state of emergency ends in August.

Meanwhile, Tajuddin who is the Prasarana chairperson, said he had no problem with stepping down from the GLC.

"Umno's struggle and the party are bigger (than positions). This struggle can't be bought," he added.

Tajuddin said those who refuse to abide by the party's stance will pay the price.

"They will either have to leave or be made to leave," the Pasir Salak MP stressed.

Earlier, Zahid had challenged Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa to resign.

Annuar had been vocal in urging Umno to retain ties with Bersatu, while criticising Zahid for pushing for a breakup.

Zahid, without naming names, called Annuar a parasite and accused him of backstabbing the party.

  2. Aren't those rude calls for the Minister to resign disrespectful of the Agong ?

If this were DAP making the calls in that manner, for example, there would be dozens and dozens of police reports by now.
