MCO all for nothing? Ineffective enforcement? Double standards?

FMT:

Did we waste 16 days in a half-baked MCO, says Najib

The current movement control order in all states except Sarawak is scheduled to end on Feb 4.

PETALING JAYA: After 16 days of the second movement control order (MCO 2.0), Najib Razak has questioned its effectiveness in containing the Covid-19 pandemic as case numbers remain high.

“Did the government force the people to waste 16 days in implementing an MCO which isn’t so effective when many rules had been relaxed?” he said.

“We have seven days to go before MCO 2.0 ends on Feb 4. Will we be able to reduce the number of infections by then?” he said in a Facebook post.

He noted that 4,094 infections were reported in the last 24 hours, and 3,680 cases were reported the day before. Many were wondering just how effective the MCO was, he said.

Najib was commenting on a poll run by Astro Awani which he said showed that 76% of the 45,000 respondents felt that the current MCO was weak.

An MCO is in force in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan, Johor, Kelantan and Sabah until Feb 4.

  1. KT will quote a convicted criminal on the failed Covid control but he gives free pass to MCA and MIC, who allow this illegitimate gomen to cause the second wave of this virus.

And Jibby himself played a big role in the failure, because he supported holding the Sabah elections and conducted many ceramahs there.

Sabah election: ‘If you don’t vote BN, you are stupid!’ – Really, Najib?
By JD Lovrenciear -21 Sep 2020

To label voters as “stupid” just because they don’t vote for BN is simply not on, JD Lovrenciear writes.

Watch the video above to see the former prime minister, now a convict, bellow: “Kalau tak undi BN – palui!” – in English, “If you don’t vote BN, (you are) stupid!”

Najib, on the Sabah state election campaign trail, was speaking at Kampung Sembulan Lama within the Tanjung Aru constituency on the night of 18 September. (The words are uttered at point 9:10 during his full speech, posted on his Facebook page.)

Isn’t this a great insult to the people of this country?

To use the word stupid on people is degrading – anywhere in the world. To label voters as “stupid’ for not voting a particular party makes a mockery of their basic right to freely vote for the party of their choice.

    1. TS, you should (1) read carefully what I've written, (2) do not twist nor fabricate words i=to put in other's mouth

Re your "To label voters as “stupid’ for not voting a particular party makes a mockery of their basic right to freely vote for the party of their choice", please show me where I have written that.

But it's stupid to demand of people you don't vote and thus weaken their political powers to able to exert influence, to then do something beyond their political strength - that is gross stupidity

  2. MCA's gomen called for the Sabah elections which Harapan did not want, and Wee KHAT Siong was so enthusiastic spreading the virus. Now when we have 4,000 daily cases he diam-diam duduk rumah makan Mee Maggi like Buat Tak Tahu...

Same for Ah Ti Lian Ker, who also contributed to the spread of the virus.

PETALING JAYA: The MCA election machinery has gone full swing behind the four candidates contesting in the Sept 26 Sabah election with its president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong campaigning personally with them.

Dr Wee, who extended his stay in Sabah for another day, wasted no time to personally visit each election operations room and address the machinery since Saturday (Sept 12).

In a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 13), he said he took the opportunity and introduced Barisan Nasional candidate for the Likas seat, Dr Chang Kee Ying, while attending the "Remembering the Golden Years" celebration with the Sabah Association of Senior Citizens in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. More than 100 members attended the event.

He described Chang as “an exemplary party member and a high achiever who is down-to-earth and sincere".

“The MCA central leadership will wholeheartedly give her our full support to march on and we hope everyone will vote for her,” he said.

Also present at the event were party vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, who is also the Deputy National Unity Minister, party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, the association president Datuk William Chai and Sabah Wanita MCA chief Dr Pamela Yong.

In several visits on Sunday, Dr Wee also threw support behind two other MCA candidates - Datuk Chew Kok Woh and Chan Boon Thian - who are contesting the Karamunting and Elopura seats.

Sabah MCA is contesting in four seats in the Sabah state election.
