Warning: Do Not Release Illegal Migrants from Detention Centres

MM Online:

Detention of hundreds of children at immigration centres highly unacceptable — Lawyers for Liberty

NOVEMBER 6 — We refer to the written reply in the parliament by the Home Ministry dated November 3, 2020 that confirmed that there are 756 children currently detained at immigration detention centres as of November 6, 2020.

Equally alarming is that 326 of those children were stated to be of Myanmar nationality and are being detained without guardians. While not explicitly stated, it could reasonably be presumed that most, if not all, of these children are Rohingyas, meaning that the authorities have inexplicably detained children refugees and asylum seekers
.

I'm afraid I don't agree with the Lawyers for Liberty in releasing these Rohingya teenagers from detention centres. They can pose enormous social problems for our society apart from the health issue of some of them being carriers of the covid virus.

The fact that they came to our country without their parents-guardians is proof of their social independence.

Send them back to Bangladesh or Myanmar A.S.A.P

  1. Trump was heavily condemned for his border policies that included detention of undocumented illegal immigrant minors.

Many Malaysians included condemned that issue as proof of barbaric American behaviour.

It would be hypocrisy for those same Malaysians to remain silent about Malaysia similarly detaining minors.

    2. Agreed....no detention in cages. First, clean them up, feed them up, clothe them up, send them back in our MAS ( if it is still flying, that is, hehe ) or send them back in AirAsia...we do have Islamic funds for this, one plane-load would kautim.

    3. Unlike those returned under denial of entry upon arrival, illegals already inside Malaysia cannot simply be put on the next plane out.

The country of return has to recognise them, and agree, and arrangements have to be made.

Depending in circumstances, they may have right of appeal to the Minister.
So, illegals get detained for significant length of time, may be weeks.

Which brings back to the issue where the detainees are minors.
