Bad Fengshui for DAP in Perak

Malaysiakini:

Perak Harapan hit with more defections

(l to r) - Paul Yong (DAP Tronoh), A Sivasubramaniam (DAP Buntong), Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim (AMANAH Titi Serong)

Perak Pakatan Harapan has been hit with a second wave of defections immediately after Perikatan Nasional declared it would form a new state government.

At a press conference in Ipoh this afternoon, three assemblypersons announced they were quitting their respective Harapan component parties and declared their support for the new state government.

Two of the defectors - Paul Yong (Tronoh assemblyperson) and A Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) were from DAP while Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim (Titi Serong) was from Amanah.

Hasnul's move is a major blow to Amanah as he is the party's national Youth wing leader.

Yong said if they do not support the new government, then a lot of projects in their constituencies would be cancelled.

"In Tronoh, there are investors coming in as well as a university. If we go back to the opposition, then all will be suspended.

"People placed high hopes on the political parties. They should not suffer because of political games," he added.

With this, the current alignment in Perak would see Perikatan Nasional with 32 seats on the government bench while the opposition bench would have 24 members.

On the wake of Azumu treacherous frogging over to Perikatan Nasional (PN) - (what else can you expect from PRIBUMI politicians especially Azumu, wakakaka) - 3 others from Pakatan joined him in their political migration, crossing over to the new (now ruling) coalition, which also rules federally.

Those 3 are Paul Yong (DAP Tronoh) and A Sivasubramaniam (DAP Buntong) and Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim (Amanah Titi Serong). Their defections have now provided PN with an unassailable 32 ADUNs in a 56-ADUN Dewan. The once majority PH has now been left with 24 ADUNs.

I believe this is the first defection ever by an Amanah representative, federally or state-wise. Hasnul Zulkarnain's defection would be a major blow to Amanah as he was the party's national Youth wing leader.

I am sure we all know who Paul Yong is, but please refrain from "preemptive" vituperation (wakakaka) because of his alleged 'naughtiness' on top of his defection, wakakaka. We need to remember that 'a man (or woman) is innocent until proven guilty' though I have come to realise that many political supporters (Pakatan and BN/PN) don't give two F's about this common English legal doctrine, wakakaka.

But I'm somewhat surprised by the defection of two times Buntong-winning ADUN, A Sivasubramaniam, though there has been a bitter split in the Perak DAP, where he and Paul Yong belong to the faction opposite to DAP Perak Chairman, Nga Kor Ming.

Paul Yong said the principal reason for his (and presumably Siva's) move over to PN has been his concerns over ongoing projects in the constituency, where he placed the rakyat's interests over his party affiliation - he wants the PN state government to continue with those projects.

But I suspect he and Siva might have crossed over due to irreparable differences with the Nga faction in Perak DAP.

I feel that the Perak political arena must be bad fengshui for Pakatan as it's the second time the coalition has lost majority rule in mid-term, wakakaka, involving of all parties, the once-solid DAP.

remember Hee Yit Foong in 2008?

wakakaka

OTOH, Perak could be like Gurun (Kedah) where frogs thrive, wakakaka again.

bad fengshui

or good breeding ground for frogs?
