Lim KS right after a long long while

From Malaysiakini (extracts):

Latheefa's appointment legally correct, politically wrong - Kit Siang

Published:   |  Modified:
DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang today offered a rare critique of his Pakatan Harapan ally, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Referring to the appointment of Latheefa Koya as MACC chief commissioner, Lim said Mahathir's move was "completely constitutional."
However, he said, the move violates Promise 14 of Harapan's GE14 election manifesto since it was not validated by Parliament.
"Those who protested that Latheefa's appointment as MACC chief violated the spirit of the pledge in Harapan manifesto are not wrong...
"I am sure that if Latheefa had not been the person involved in the present controversy, she would be in the very forefront of the ruckus criticising any appointment of MACC chief in a similar fashion as her present appointment.
"In fact, going by this logic, the appointment of Mohd Shukri Abdull on May 18, 2018, would have violated Promise 14 of the Harapan manifesto," added Lim.

  1. Aiyaaa, Kit was enjoying usual goyang kaki weekend with his Gelang Patah constituents; this weekend special because got Hari Raya ketupat and lemang.

What an smart retort from LKS; KT sneakily omitted Kit's key point:

Latheefa's appointment is THE ONLY LEGAL way for the MACC Chief to be appointed, ie following the old way, not involving Parliament. Although the Parliamentary Select Committee had been formed the constitutional arrangements are not yet in place and the process is yet to be defined and legislated.

Then he elegantly threw back the challenge to the opposition; if they would support such constitutional changes or would they play-play like when they did not support the constitutional amendments that would have made Sabah and Sarawak equal to Malaya.

    Touche....!!

Meanwhile the online petitions (which the anti-Latheefa group started) continue to show Malaysians support Latheefa's appointment by a HUGE margin of 2:1, ie two-thirds majority.

Admit it....Toonsie has won this one, give up the Kong Kali Kong noises and support Latheefa.
