Maddy's Fabricated Forest City citizenship vs Maddy's Sabah Project IC

Malaysiakini YOURSAY: Forest City claims - Dr M playing politics, not economics. Some extracts follow:

Siberia: There seem to be mixed reactions from all commenters here, including myself. On one hand, what's wrong with these rich people spending money here and boosting our domestic consumption?

On the other hand, is Mahathir worried that these 700,000 people, mainly mainland Chinese buyers, will be given citizenship and voting rights?

If yes, then this is a case of Mahathir tasting his own medicine - Mahathir was the alleged mastermind of Project IC in Sabah in the 90s where 700,000 foreigners were allegedly granted citizenship in Sabah.

Many viewed the project as politically motivated as it altered the voting pattern in Sabah to favour the ruling government.

Puzzling: One only needs to visit China to observe how progressive they are, with a relentless push towards a higher standard of living.

Minus the rural areas, wages in many cities in China have already surpassed ours. Do you really think many of them wish to live here given our discriminatory policies?

In any case, the Johor MB did not say that while the China Chinese stay in luxury houses, Malaysians have to live in cheap houses. Mahathir is just putting words in his mouth.

Just in case Mahathir has forgotten, land is a state matter and hence the power to sell or not to sell to foreigners rests with the states.

Also in case Mahathir is confused, the Malaysia My Second Home programme does not require a foreigner to buy any property, fixed deposits will do. Hence it has no relation to the purchasing of properties in Forest City.

It is presumptuous of Mahathir to assume that these foreign Chinese want to apply for permanent residency and citizenship.

Even if they want to, the power to grant them rests entirely in the hands of the federal government. Hence it is far-fetched to assume that these 700,000 will become permanent residents or citizens. That is utter nonsense.

  1. Aiyah, same old topic. Twisting and turning the issue to look legitimate again.

Why not just get Forest City developers announce to the whole world that buying properties in Forest City will not be granted Permanent Stay Visas as earlier advertised during their sales campaign in China? And the same goes too for all the other projects like ECRL, SSER, Melaka Gateway, MCKIP Kuantan etc.

Now, who was the Home Minister incharge of granting Permanaent Stay Visas, Visit Visas, Citizenship, Immigration Passes during the launch of sales of houses by the Forest City developers? His brother-in-law firm was also involved in scamming Bangladeshi workers and making a fortune bringing in workers which was also subcontracted to many crony UMNO companies.

Unless all these crooked deals are unhinged, all those involved in such scams and "Satu Lagi Projek untuk Kita" will not see the light of day by TDM. Are all of them willing to wait and perhaps after 5 years hoping the Govt will change back to BN and their scams continue unabated?

It would be wise for all those China companies involved in all these crony BN projects during the rule of the BN regime to abandon their BN cronies and companies and renegotiate with other more reputable and honest Malaysian companies.

Otherwise, wait 5 years or maybe 10 years and start praying hard there will again be another BN Govt. in power.

PH Govt. can always initiate other new mega projects without BN cronies or their companies and bring in FDI, jobs etc.

Those China companies still not able to understand how things have changed and keep depending on old promises of the previous BN regime better wake up fast and adjust than see the abandonment or death of their mega projects.

    1. Its quite foolish & pretentious to think they're buying into citizenship of Malaysia. Why? China is proven to be more prosperous if they're chasing prosperity, they're fucking richer than you or the other 80% local Chinese so they see no aspirations here, and what are the benefits of moving from a 3rd world country like China to another 3rd world country like Malaysia? The living standards in large cities like Beijing and Shanghai has already topped KL. They would rather prefer buying into citizenships of Singapore, Australia, UK, heck even Thailand since they're fucking rich enough to do so!

And unlike the local newspaper adverts here that pushes on automatic Aussie citizenship with a certain threshold property purchase or investment, Forest City promo materiel has never touted citizenship of Malaysia. In fact, nobody in China really cares 2 hoot about it. If they did, they (the rich Chinese) would have flocked to MM2H programmes and tens of thousands would be here by now.

This is just classic Mahathir using the boogeyman to send a message that China must play ball with him or else. The effect is, it will scare away investors and FDI, that results in everyone suffering except the rich upper class and his dynasty & cronies.

It took AAB & Najib 10 years to convince foreign investors that flip-flop policies of Mahathir is gone and the past few years they came back with a bang, but now with him back and with him back to his old games, it will certainly take much longer -perhaps 20 years- for investors to return once more, they being wary of more Administration flip-flops whenever GE comes.

    2. Am talking about selling of permanent stay visas for property buyers of Forest City and you are talking about citizenship.

Don't cloud the issues of corruption and hijacked it to another planet.

Permanent stay visas is totally a different subject matter compared to citizenship or MM2H or Green Card etc.

You're a fool then. Who wants a permanent visa here? Unlike other countries, permanent visas here doesn't grant any special benefits other than longer term reside without making visits to the embassy. You can't even get a job here or do businesses here with PR.

Stop clouding the issue with wordplay. What you're really implying is that buyers of FC gets to stay here as citizens, which I have debunked.

    2. According to you and your cohorts, ketuanans are no longer in government. So how can they stop issuance of visas to anyone including Chinese citizens? They can't even stop the issuance of 1000year TOL to Chinese squatters here.

  3. The Forest City issue has no relationship whatsoever to Sabah.

Cha Bor attempting to juxtapose the two issues is unscrupulous and unethical

  4. Talking about fabricated stories, Tan Sri Shafee the lawyer claims the 9.5 million that Najib paid him via two checks in 2013 and 2014 was not for AI's Sodomy II case but for BN election petition cases dating from 2004 & 2005. Yeah right.

What lawyer will patiently wait more than 10 YEARS to get paid?

After account frozen, Shafee says explained RM9.5m issue to MACC again
Published 45 minutes ago on 08 September 2018

    By Ida Lim

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said today he had again explained to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on why he was paid RM9.5 million by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, after his related bank account was frozen.

Shafee, who is a senior private lawyer, said he had already explained to the MACC about a year ago regarding the RM9.5 million payment during its routine investigation on the payment which became an issue because of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

“I had brought with me documents showing the files that I have billed and my banking documents to reflect the receipt of the RM9.5 Million and their disbursements,” he said in a six-page press statement today.

As for his recent statement to MACC about the same RM9.5 million issue, Shafee said he had done so after the MACC froze his CIMB bank account that was used to receive the payment and make the disbursements.

“That particular account was frozen by MACC without any notification to me until I found out on my own when some of my cheques bounced and I had to replace them to the relevant payees with other cheques,” he said.

Shafee said his recent further statement to the MACC was made about three weeks ago to a different investigation officer, and that he has a further appointment at his own request to see this officer next Tuesday or Wednesday to show again the related documents such as the files that he has billed for work done.

Earlier in his press statement, Shafee had clarified that the RM9.5 million was not payment for his work as a special prosecutor in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy II appeals.

Shafee explained that the RM9.5 million that he received from Najib was payment for RM11 million worth of legal work that he had done for Barisan Nasional for 46 election petition cases in 2004 and 2006.

Shafee said that he was made to understand that Najib — who was also the then Umno president and then Barisan Nasional chairman — was responsible for handling the party’s funds as it was a normal party practice, and that he had at that time no knowledge of the source of Najib’s payments to him.

“Najib would be able to confirm the reason for the RM9.5 million being paid to me,” he said later in the same statement.
