The UMNO-pire strikes back

Malaysiakini - Najib scoffs at Harapan’s 'fantasy' GST abolition, reforms:

Days after the nation was fixated on witnessing the massive police raids on properties linked to former premier Najib Razak, the latter has emerged guns blazing at the new administration.

In the latest of a series of interviews on Malay Mail yesterday, Najib waved off Pakatan Harapan’s promises such as abolishing the GST and other economic reforms as the stuff of “fantasy” and unrealistic.

“This is the realm of fantasy. There is no way that they can achieve this,” Najib said, referring to Harapan’s promise to waive the National Higher Education Fund loan repayments, abolish the GST and reduce retail fuel prices.

Najib also cast doubt on the move to reduce the GST rate to zero, an interim measure announced by Harapan as part of the process to replace the tax altogether.

“Zero-rated is not what they promised, ok? Zero-rated can always mean you can always add on to it,” he said.

Najib attributed the reported failings of his administration to Harapan “demonising” him.

“I mean it already can be seen that three days after the election, they said the economy is in a strong position.

“Before that, they said the economy is in a bad shape, we are going towards bankruptcy, we need to save Malaysia,” he told Malay Mail.

“You mean in three days, the economy has recovered so dramatically?

“The reserves are so strong, we are getting good growth?

“No! These are statements made three days after the election,” he said, adding that the economy was already doing well under BN, citing appraisals by various market analysts such as Fitch and Moody’s.

tremble, you goofy gullible guppies

for GST is ONLY zero-rated, not repealed

  1. Still playing political games when he has already lost.

Come back again in 5 years and maybe maybe i will listen if PH fails miserably.

It just shows the character of deep arrogance towards others who have bested him.

Too much BTN education has formed his character, sadly.

  2. When the 14th Parliament convenes in a couple of months time Najib can take the lead (if he is not in jail by then) to defend his policies and attacks Harapan’s. I would love to see that debate on TV. In fact Najib should be the leader of the opposition, not Zahid, Hishamuddin or KJ.

  3. If Najib is not happy that his beloved GST has been zeroed then I suggest he continues to pay it after June 1. Just donate the 6% for all purchases directly to the Treasury. Considering the number of luxury items he hands out as gifts that should come up to a hefty sum.

  4. In fact, all those who still insist that GST is good for the country can still pay 6% directly to the Treasury from June 1 onwards.

    1. We don't mind paying GST if the PH Government is fulfilling its Manifesto to return a fair share of the oil revenue to the East Coast states and East Malaysia. As such since PH is renegading on their promises one by one, why should we pay more taxes to this Government as well?

    2. Your terengganu and kelantan government dont need royalty if gst reimplemented.

Or wait a minute, hadi awang can implement gst in both states. Can?

    3. Stop being stupid, Looes. GST is a Federal undertaking and states cannot decide on the implementation. Otherwise, let me ask you why Selangor and Penang Government whom were vehemently oppose GST, didn't prevent the implementation at that time?

You talk like a Mahathirism apologist who were opposing his draconian rule when he's with BN but now supports such draconian actions when he's with PH. Such hypocrisy stinks thru the internet.

  5. First thing the new FM should do is publish the bank account number of the Treasury. All those who insist GST is good for the country can voluntarily donate (I love this word) 6% directly from June 1 onwards.

  6. Yes agreed. TDM had said that the GST is to be cancelled/repealed but it will take time a bit because the SST needs to be tabled in parliament first. Granted.

I also heard Zeti said that GST will be replaced by SST within 100 days but on the next day MoF issued out a statement that GST would be zero from 1 June 2018.

Is this the collective decision of CEP to supercede Zeti and also TDM in regard to GST? If not, is it by LGE unilaterally?

From 1 June 2018 a BMW will be RM70,000-00 cheaper. And PH said the country is going bankrupt? Macam meludah ke langit lah.

    2. From taking time (to follow the parliamentary procedure u guys love so much) to 100 days (to be replaced by sst) to less than 30 days (zero rated gst), that's systematic planning running on clockworks!

Unfortunately, reading deficiency clowns CAN'T comprehend & fart rumbustiously every chances they get!

Ooop…… perhaps, they forget that's the true meaning of macam meludah ke langit aka bodoh sombong.

  7. Najib better be able to produce the "Arab Donor" soon, else he is going to be in Deep Shit.
I've always suspected the Arab Donor looks more like Ktemoc (mata sepet) than to Omar Sharif.

  8. Auditor-General's report
"Unable to confirm the true ownership of "Aabar" account that 1MDB paid its money to."

United States DOJ report states flatly the "False Aabar" account belonged to Mata Sepet.
So...the "Arab Donor" looks more like Ktemoc...
