Good olde bad days of oil royalty

From Malaysiakini:

The people of Terengganu will still benefit in terms of equal quantum from the oil and gas royalty from the Pakatan Harapan federal government, but it will not be directly channelled to the current state government administration of PAS.

Terengganu PKR chairperson Azan Ismail said the Terengganu state government had no need to polemise the oil royalty issue to mislead the people as Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad would think of a suitable method in order for its benefits to be directly received by the people of the state.

Azan, who is also Terengganu Harapan deputy chairperson, said the current state government was not entitled to claim royalty as there was a clear obstacle from the legal point of view when the Terengganu government (under the BN administration) voluntarily withdrew its suit against the federal government at one time.

"This has made the right to claim royalty through the legal channels to be closed ... there is no freedom and the right to refile the claim through court.

Back to the bad old days, which is also the new good bad old days, wakakaka.

  1. 2 weeks in, already their Manifesto isn't worth the paper its printed on. And the PH zombies are cheering it while espousing fairness for all. Such hypocritical Government, and yet you won't hear about this in Western medias Washington Post, Bloomberg, ABC, BBC, etc.

  2. Adopt the Norwegian model.
The funds should be channelled into a fund with an Independent board, and transparent annual accounting to the public on Income and Expenditure and Assets vs. Liabilities..

  3. Trengganu, Kelantan and all those states in Malaya are still binded by the Petronas Act and may face difficulties in getting the quantum required unlike sovereign states like Sabah and Sarawak which are contestable as to the quantum.

So, go by the rules on the distribution of oil royalties whether the state govt is PH, PAS or BN.

Until the Petronas Act is amended, the rules remain and fair play is to be adhered to.

    1. You PH folks are the Government now, so amend the laws and give the East Coast states what you folks have promised in your Manifesto. Otherwise its just bullshit to reel in the votes.
