A leopard doesn't change its spots

FMT -Now Mahathir says Umno members can join PH (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today the coalition will accept Umno members provided they become “independent” first.

“There are 1,000 applications a day received from people interested in becoming our members. Among them are Umno members.

“Umno members can join us by first becoming independent and then make their stand on the PH-led government and then we’ll decide if they are allowed to join or not,” he said at the PPBM headquarters here today.

This contradicts his statement on May 16, where he said PH would not accept Umno members.

Wakakaka, a leopard doesn't change its spots.

  1. It they are ordinary members who have not been implicated in wrong-doing, leave the party and accept PH's inclusive policy platform, they should be free to apply.

  2. DAP's Zaid came from UMNO.

Not sure about Zairil's own membership, but his adopted father was one of UMNO's founders.

    Dyana used to be UMNO.

Aziz Baru was never with UMNO, but certainly are family connections.

  6. Give some credit to the wily leopard please. By dangling membership in Harapan TDM is weakening UMNO / BN even further, by tempting more to abandon a leaking ship. And after they leave to become independents TDM will be retired and not bound to accept them into Harapan.

  7. Good! Let those who are not loyalist, but there for the benefits leave and join PH. It'll cleanse UMNO of parasites and with its rebirth, it can join with PAS to uphold the national agenda.

  8. Just 3 weeks ago we were still on a Slippery High-Speed Rail down to Zimbabwe.

Now we get to step off this Slithery Road and take a different path.

Not many countries get a 2nd chance like this, but Malaysia has received it.

Praise be to Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Brahma, Yahweh...

Mahathir has done bad things in the past, and he may well make misteps now in his hurry to make things right.

But he deserves the support of right-minded Malaysians, and criticism when he gets out of line.

Kaytee says: "A leopard doesn't change its spots."

Ever heard of Freedom of Association?

From a voter's perspective there is nothing wrong if it does not involve Frog jumping and tilting the balance of power at State or Federal Govt. for Dedak, cos it then involves betrayal of the voters voting for them.

From a politician's perspective, this is used to sometimes justify their reasons for grabbing power, strengthening their parties or positions or their own future.

So Kaytee, from whose perspective are you looking from?

  10. Wakakakaka……

Mamak must have an advisor who read CaoCao's 乱世治国论 - kill the leader of the pact, pacify & use the subordinates while keeping an eye on them.

There r capable people within umno. Otherwise, umno won't become a formidable party based on dedak alone!

Remove their umno labelling, these people can be of useful helps to PH!

But KT would like to use this tactical move as mamak doesn't change his characters.

    Wakakakaka…… (sama2 kt's grandmother's broken record…)

Mamak is 93 & mukhriz is a 阿斗 of zero consequences! Bersatu has many other young capable Turks who DON'T buy into the old umno mindset.

Besides PH is NO bn incarnation. The other component parties r not deadwood either.

    Interesting time, indeed.

  12. Removing UMNO was the first step; the next is to sustain Dr.M under "controlled" conditions. Removing him will be easy once Anwar is ready to take over. My worry is Azmin and UMNO. They might join together and take over the administration minus DAP and Amanah. So Anwar has to be extra careful if he does not want to count bars again.

    2. PKR 47+ PPBM 13 + UMNO 54 is enough. Others in BN have another 25. This enough to offset any from PRK from not joining. With Dr. M; everything is possible in Malaysia.
DAP + Amanah have only 53. Forget about PAS 18 for the time being.

    3. Insinuations and conspiracy theories already flying around. It is to be expected, right ? One conspiracy - recent pictures of Anwar having meetings with Umno people in his kitchen at home...his jetting around to meet 2 to 3 Sultans who hated Dr M's guts ( almost as much Ktemoc's hatred for Dr M, wakakkakaka )...Rafizi who is now busy berZahidHamidikan Dr M ( Fizi loudly proclaiming his freedom of speech to claim that PH's victory is not due to Dr M factor...it is the cost of living and the hatred of Najib the main factors leading to
      victory, wakakkaka ).

In a recent interview, Dr M advised Anwar to be a bit more patient..and now he mentioned "2 to 3 years" ! Not 2 years, but may an extra year....wakakkaka. Like CK said, interesting time indeed.

Some have likened Anwar to free radicals in the body...these free radicals are hugely damaging to the human body, being atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. Once formed these highly reactive radicals can start a chain reaction, like dominoes.

  15. http://www.malaysia-today.net/2018/05/30/dr-m-unapologetic-over-claims-of-authoritarian-22-year-rule-financial-times-reports/

(The Star) – Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad refused to apologise over claims of building an authoritarian regime during his 22-year tenure as the nation’s fourth Prime Minister, Financial Times reports.

In an May 28 interview, Dr Mahathir was reluctant to acknowledge his role in building a flawed political system that led to systematic power abuse during former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s administration.

“When I was in power, I was no authoritarian,” Dr Mahathir said, dismissing his pre-election public apology for politeness and “Malay custom”.

“The fact is that people say I did something wrong. I do not agree with them,” he was quoted as saying.

Dr Mahathir responded to those labels, saying that it does not affect him.

“When I came back into politics, I found that the labels that I got tend to cause people to believe that I was really like that and therefore they should reject me.”

“Now, if they say anything, I’m already Prime Minister. The most they can do is to throw me out,” he said.

Dr Mahathir also insisted that his former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had learnt his lesson after being sacked and subsequently incarcerated on sodomy charges in 1998.

“I think he is quite a different man now. I think he realises that things do not just go the way you want it to go. So he will have to be a bit more patient,” Dr Mahathir said of Anwar who is expected to take over the Prime Minister’s position in two year’s time.

However,  Dr Mahathir apologised for appointing Najib to his cabinet and promoting him in the latter’s bid to become Prime Minister in 2009.

He described it as the “biggest mistake” of his life.

Dr Mahathir told Financial Times that his priority now is to restore democracy in Malaysia and reduce the capacity for abuse by the Prime Minister.

“Soon I’ll be 93… I will try to accomplish as much as possible in the short time given to me,” he said.

Financial Times said Dr Mahathir, who previously played with racial politics, is now heading a more racially diverse government.

Yet, Dr Mahathir admitted that racism in the government still runs deep.

“At the top level, there’s less racism in this government,” he said. “But at the ground level, the racial feeling is still very strong.”

On the international diplomacy front, Financial Times said the return of Dr Mahathir will reverberate beyond Malaysia as he renews working relationships with old friends such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Najib, known to be close with US president Donald Trump, a relationship Dr Mahathir said he has no plans to pursue for now.

“I don’t know how to work with a person who changes his mind overnight,” Dr Mahathir said.

“For example, he wants to meet the president of North Korea, then he doesn’t want to meet, and now he’s saying maybe it’s going to happen,” he added.

Dr Mahathir, however, said he has always supported the rise of China even before the territorial dispute with Malaysia over the South China Sea.

He also warned that South-East Asian nations have to be careful with how hard they push back against Beijing.

“The powerful will take what they will, the weak will concede what they have, what they must,” he said.

For neighbouring Singapore, Dr Mahathir said the effects of Pakatan Harapan’s toppling of Barisan Nasional’s 61-year rule could inspire a similar electoral earthquake in the island nation.

“I think the people of Singapore, like the people in Malaysia, must be tired of having the same government, the same party since Independence,” he said of the long-ruling People’s Action Party.
