Is 'conflict of interest' alien to Lim Kit Siang?

Malay Mail Online - Kit Siang wants Dr M to head

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — Following calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the alleged irregularities in 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) deals, Lim Kit Siang said today that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be made chairman of such a panel.

In a statement here, the DAP veteran said Dr Mahathir, now the Najib administration’s chief critic, would be a good candidate for the post, especially if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak wants to prove his innocence.

“I am agreeable with the proposal for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the WSJ allegation, and it would be a great idea if such a RCI is chaired by former prime minister Dr Mahathir – for it would be one great demonstration by Najib that he has nothing to hide in the long drawn-out 1MDB scandal and that he has done no wrong,” Lim said.

The RCI under Dr Mahathir should be given three months to complete its report, the lawmaker said, adding that during this period, Najib should take a leave of absence.

On the basis of fair play, assuming Lim Kit Siang is still interested in such silly concept as 'fair play', has our Mr Lim come down to such a grotty state of politics that he would make an incredulous proposal, one so stupid, questionable and flabbergastingly biased that I wonder why I have been supporting DAP?

Even if Najib Razak wants to prove his innocence ... and ... has nothing to hide in the long drawn-out 1MDB scandal and that he has done no wrong. do you think he'll stand a f* fair chance with Mahathir as chair of the RCI?

It's like asking Dr Mahathir to chair a RCI to review Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy charges and the associated sentencing.

It's like having Abdul Hamid chaired the tribunal on impeachment proceedings against former Lord President Abbas Salleh.

It's f**king called 'conflict of interest'.

Is Lim Kit Siang saying he hasn't heard of such a concept of fair play where justice must not only be done but be seen to be done?

I'm totally disgusted by Lim Kit Siang's obscene impatience to get Najib that he has ignored the concept of 'conflict of interest' and ...

... shamelessly as if in a Faustian Pact, given his/DAP's stamp of approval for a man like Dr Mahathir who's not only openly and invincibly hostile towards Najib Razak but himself has a list of issues to answer in the same vein as Najib's, eg. FOREX. Bank Bumiputra, Maminco, the emasculation of the judiciary, you-know-as-much-as-I-do-so-work-out-the-rest-yourself.

Lim Kit Siang has broken my heart and my trust in his political judgement.

  2. Did Altantuya get a fair go before she was blown to smithereens by Najib's bodyguards , under xxxxx's orders ?

Did Teoh Beng Hock get a fair go before he ended went flying through the air ?
Teoh died in the midst of a Najib-ordered conspiracy to destabilise the Selangor State government. The vicious interrogation Teoh received, as well as the refusal of the authorities to prosecute those responsible for his death all points back to Najib.

As far as I'm concerned.....no mercy for Najib...

Good on you, Lim Kit Siang....

    4. ah looes, my point (or lks point) is who else could touch najib, the pm cum umno president assume if he committed fraud? some idiot say that no one is stupid enough to transfere public fund into his personal account, ignoring the fact that our country is governed by a bunch of thief, robber and pirates, and feel no shame about it.

    5. Bhai must be turning in his grave at this LKS learned brilliance.

It is clear that LKS is spoiling for a fight with PM Najib and he wants Dr M to be the judge and the jury. Only one can win - we know which side that will be. It is a clear bloody conflict of interest lah.. HY.

LKS has just made a u-turn. He is suddenly full of praise for the 22 years of despotism and dictatorship that he once hated it so much!

  4. KT, no need to get all worked up by LKS call la. LKS is only being coy with that call. He meant to clap his hands watching the fight between the 2 tigers. Whoever looses will be an opposition gain. As a seasoned politician, LKS is just poking Tun M's backside or just pouring oil into fire.

  5. Teo Akbar is right in a way. LKS has his sense of justice and fairplay still intact. Have you heard of the 2 maxims of "it takes a thief to catch a thief" and "killing 2 birds with one stone"? I do not need to explain the former but for the latter, LKS would love to see TDM living through his(TDM's) own dubious situation when chairing such a commission, if you know what I mean. LKS has made the tongue-in-cheek proposal knowing full well that TDM would not consider taking it up.
