MCA Youth's meaningless demand

Malaysiakini tells us in its news article MCA wants second deputy BN chief's post that Liow Tiong Lai, MCA Youth outgoing chief has demanded that the BN creates two deputy chairpersons where one should go to the MCA as the second most senior party in the Perikatan-BN coalition.

Hitherto both chairperson and deputy chairperson of the BN have been automatically UMNO’s to take.

His bravado was no doubt the MCA Youth’s way of showing the Chinese Malaysian community the MCA has begun exerting its equal say in the political coalition.

Personally I believe demanding such a post is useless, meaningless and a mere grandstanding gesture, because it’s only a political coalition position, and of course the way it’s done could only irk the UMNO ultras who can’t stand any non-Malay ‘demanding’ this or that.

As evidence of the latter, today the Rulers Conference has, very sadly for Malaysians, defended the myth of the country’s social contract.

Their Highnesses’ spokesperson delivered a familiar nationalistic clarion call, stressing the need for Malays to be united (see Star Online), which makes me wonder whether I am only a second class subject(?) of HM the Agong?

How nice it would have been if the Rulers had stressed on the need for ‘Malaysians’ to be united. And where was our erudite Prince Regent and his Papa?

Now, haven't I told you gushing gullible guppies HRH ain't no silver bullet for our deep rooted problems!

While the Rulers made a concessionary assurance that the rights of non-Malays will be looked after as per the Constitution, and I now wonder what the nons' rights really are, they warned that there should never be any attempt to test or challenge issues related to the social contract.

They chided ‘certain quarters’ for disputing and questioning these matters, causing provocation and uneasiness among the people.

Hey, it’s one thing to have an affirmative program like the NEP, but it’s another to assert the existence of a ‘social contract’.

Don’t be mistaken that Constitutional Article 153 is the head of authority for the so-called ‘social contract’. All the Article says has been about the ‘special position’ of the Rulers, Malays etc.

Anyway, much on the ‘social contract’ has already been tossed around like a salad, so I don’t propose to continue in a no-win–no-win discussion. The Rulers Conference has confirmed what the Kelantan Prince had said in April this year, namely:

“... the rakyat must unite and never raise issues regarding Malay rights and special privileges because it is a quid pro quo in gratitude for the giving in of citizenship (beri-paksa kerakyatan) to 2.7 million non-Malays into the Tanah Melayu federation."

“Thus, it is not appropriate for these other ethnic groups to have citizenship, only (later) to seek equality and privileges.”

So … not appropriate for these other ethnic groups to seek equality … how sad!

Perhaps you may understand why I titled my post on that hurtful statement as Kelantan Crown Prince 'slapped' non-Malays in face!.

Then in April, in my post Social contract - a vigorously implemented 'fantasy', based on a Malaysiakini news article, we were told by Royal Professor Dr Ungku Abdul Aziz that there was
no such thing as a social contract between Malaysia's diverse ethnic communities.

Dr Ungku Aziz said that the social contract was "a fantasy created by politicians of all sorts of colours depending on their interest."

Well, it has been, for some, a profitable fantasy - but it's a fantasy that has been vigorously and fiercely implemented and more than realized.

Ungku Aziz believed whatever contract there was, it was more of an ‘economic contract’, what most countries would call 'affirmative action', in areas of education and health for groups that needed it the most …

… which has been why I stated above that “It’s one thing to have an affirmative program like the NEP, but it’s another to assert the existence of a ‘social contract’. Don’t be mistaken that Constitutional Article 153 is the head of authority for the so-called ‘social contract’.”

Though Ungku Aziz chopped down the myth (at least intellectually) of the ‘social contract’ we now get the royalty telling us, their ‘non’ subjects not to question the mythical ethno-centric politico-social-economic quid pro quo.

So I ask you, what’s the bloody good of having a MCA person as a second deputy chairperson of the BN? He or she will still be an inferior 'non'!

As one sweetie once said, words to the effect, that to term someone with such a terrible word as a 'non' must be the most abhorrent thing imaginable.

  1. Nobody rate you as a second class citizen, not a sigle Malay says that. Your problem is that you want to be seen or rated as a first class citizen, which also NOT a single Malay claims he/she is. You and those who share the sentiment should thabkfull for what everyone of us has today. look at the Chinese, they control most of the economy, the malay only have the figures through PNB and GLC which dint even belong to them. Look at the Indian, the hard core Indians are lower than Malays in percentage. Look at the Chinese in the mainland and indian in India. If you are so fond of talking about CLASS, how do you rate those Indians and Chinese in their motherland and those in Malaysia. Who got a higher class?

And please, I sincerely think Malaysians are better of if there are no people like you who keep on mention about the Class, which we, the Malays has never think of. But just to mind you, if you keep on mentioning about that, the Malays will also do the same thing.

Just to remind you, what is best for you not always best for the rest of Malaysians. So why not let these races debate just STOP!

  2. Every other thing about this blooming country is fantasy. Malaysians revolve around fantasy, dude.

But if you see a dog, but choose to call it a cat, does that make it a dog or a cat?

  4. How to be a fully developed democratic country if the rulers and BN leaders still mentioned "ethnic" groups and non-malay ?

They should stress "Malaysian" ... regardless of race and religion

WHILE PEOPLE ARE DEMANDING TO ABOLISH ISA, here we have this MCA clowns favoring such law.
Just wait for the retaliation from UMNO youth. You scratch me I scratch you. You MCA..kettle calling pot black...so whither...sh..

  6. A group of MALES, luckily enough to be born into ROYALTY, who are UNELECTED into the office of head of states. They should be ignored.

The problem here is that traditionally and culturally, the royal families have been around for a few hundred years and clearly have the respect of the majority of the populace. Rightly or wrongly, they are seen as defenders of the 'bangsa' and 'agama.' Nevermind that many of them conduct themselves privately in a manner that will offend the 'bangsa' and the 'agama.'

Since we do not live in a time vacuum, their role continues to be significant-how I wish they would use it responsibly, rather than helping to appoint a less than clean CJ (at least help get a more transparent process going to elect a CJ), and then going on about the social contract. As if Malaysia will go down the gurgler if racial equality is achieved. So long as we live in a country not too different from Israel, this will never happen anyway.

  7. Well we have TDM to be thankful when he put the screws on those royal bees!During his tenure we did'nt hear any squeaks from them.
Now with sleepy bodowi, they are now flexing their muscle. They are now getting involve in areas out of their domain.
We should be thankful to TDM for the only right thing he did for us .

  9. The ruling coalition has enjoyed an almost unbroken 50 years of 2/3 majority in parliament. The only time this overwhelming majority was lost was in 1969.

Immediately, the race riots were triggered, parliament was suspended and the National Operations Council (with 100% control) installed. The semblance of democracy was only restored after the major opposition parties were sucked into a new and larger coalition and the 2/3 majority regained.

The ruling coalition operates on the whip principle - component parties and representatives must toe the official line. Under no circumstances is a wakil rakyat allowed to vote according to his conscience or according to the mandate the people he represents gave him.

So what has 50 years of 2/3 majority given us?

    * The Malaysia Constitution has been amended some 690 times. The USA has been in existence for more than 200 years and their constitution was only amended 27 times.

    * The Malaysia Constitution is amended for matters as trivial as extending the term of office on the Elections Commission officer, simply to avoid facing rejection by the Agung.

    * Because of the overwhelming power available to the executive, the judiciary has been emasculated and corrupted, the legislature has been reduced to a rubber stamp, the powers of the Agung have been clipped.

    * The legal system is a sad joke, serving only further the desires of the ruling clique.

    * The Elections Commission serves only to ensure that the ruling clique is returned to power.

    Look at the statistics:

    · In the last election, Barisan Nasional received only 63.8% of the popular votes but has 91% of all parliamentary seats. All due to gerrymandering, phantom votes, voter relocation, voter substitution - there are even suspicions of ballot box stuffing.

    · Umno received 35.9% of the popular votes, has 50% of the parliamentary seats and holds 71% of the ministerial positions. The other members of the coalition have been reduced to running dogs, wagging their tails and begging for scraps.

    · Little Napoleons have been allowed to run rife and the rights of non-malay, non-Muslim communities have been trampled upon.

    · The wakil rakyat do nothing even when constitutional amendments threatening these rights are proposed. It is left to the opposition members to highlight these alarming matters and try to prevent total steamrolling.

    · Meanwhile, it is not like the rights of all malays are really being addressed. Claims of hardcore poverty among rural malays indicate that wealth distribution is not making real headway.

    · Under the umbrella of the NEP, wealthy Umno leaders continue to steal the wealth of the country, feeding pittance to the people. And the malays are being deprived of the ability to compete and gain new skills.

    · Under the shield of the NEP, incompetent people (skilled in politicking) are given promotions while capable people are being deprived of the opportunity to lead.

    · Major national corporations and companies are blundering from error to error. We have lost our competitive edge in practically every field.

Change may not necessarily be better.

If we want to become better, we must want change.

    We hold that power.

  11. The truth is that Umno has ruled supreme for the last 50 years. It always got its way because the dominant ethnic majority of the country always supported its policies.

The state of the nation is corrupt, racist, discriminatory, abusive, unjust, inefficient, and backwards. If Malaysia stinks then it is because Umno stinks.

If the "morals of the country" stinks, then it is because the morals of Umno politicians stinks.

I won't even discuss the morality of explosives and murder of foreign nationals as most people seem to be able to tell the difference between right and wrong in this instance.

Instead, I shall talk about Umno corruption and Umno racism as the former will occasion the disastrous downfall of this nation, and the latter will be the downfall of the Malays.

Umno teaches that it is just to discriminate against all non-malays and non-Muslims - jobs, education, schools, colleges, universities, business opportunities, government contracts, taxes, and even finding a cemetery to bury the dead.

Umno teaches that it is right to discriminate on the basis of a person race, culture, language or religious belief.

In front of non-malays, it speaks of tolerance and unity in diversity, and in front of malays it speaks of race, religious, cultural and language supremacy, and the glorification of power and ethnic subjugation.

Bung Mokhtar leadership role as characterised by a yobbish machismo, obscene gestures, medieval attitudes towards women and minorities, and strutting bigotry within Umno is not only not an accident of chance, but an exemplary example of Umno appeal to the baser instincts and darker fantasies of its ethnic constituency.

To the vernacular schools it gives a pittance for support, and to malay language schools, there is no need to be diplomatic and call them "national language" schools, it gives 100% support.

As for English-medium schools, the type that made Malaysia education the best in South East Asia, and our school leavers the most sought after anywhere in the civilised world, they were made extinct, courtesy of Umno language and cultural supremacist fantasies.

So we are left with unemployable graduates with deplorable job skills and prospects.

Umno policies caused a brain drain to Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada, and the US.

Umno language supremacist policies caused the extinction of the best high quality education that Malaysia and the malays would ever know.

Umno perversion of the very idea of meritocracy in favour of racist discrimination has ensured the lack of meritocractic competition for all Malaysians.

Sooner or later, the malays will realise that denying meritocracy to non-malays guarantees that there can be no meritocracy for malays even within their own community.

The fact that there is no notable inferiority complex nor entitlement complex or NEP dependence amongst the non-malays is no accident.

If the non-malays were the dominant ethnic majority, and they had an Umno-like racist party to lead them with promises of ethnic supremacy, racial discrimination and ethnic privileges, then I believe they would have lost their self-confidence, self-respect and self-belief too.

Farish Noor once said "Umno ternak melayu untuk disembelih".

I agree, and if the dominant ethnic majority fails to see past Umno seductive promises of ethnic supremacy and false gods of ethnic aggrandisement, then we are all finished.

  15. We have seen that the Rulers haven't added any unifying inspiration, nor have we detect any worthwhile value in MCA's demand.

But instead of posting racist polemics which escalate the lamentable state of affairs, why don't we figure out how all Malaysians can advance from this point in our nation?

Well I'm back . lot of things happen . If MCA does not evolve which I believe with this current batch of idiotic leaders they will not , then we will . We are studying whats the best option for us to play our role , maybe out of the party role . You soon know , no hurry , and it has to be en bloc otherwise no point . Don't forget that my favourite with three years out in the woods still manage a creditable 900+ votes . The asshole who screwed us up was the one who got a miserable 200+ votes in the DP race . If that bloc of votes came over it would have been a different story today .

What social contract? Does it only applies when Malaya be independent from the Pommies? What about the formation of Malaysia? Does it means those non- bumis in Sarawak and Sabah automatically come under the Social contract signed in 1957? Is it fair to them when they are treated as unequal now? What about non-malays bumi? Since there is no social contract signed, there is nothing.
The main thrust is that we should look at what happen to the formation of Malaysia. Does it means that Sarawak and Sabah will still recognise the "Social Contract"?
