My Lai again & AGAIN!

Before My Lai 2 at Haditha has even been investigated completely, My Lai 3 has emerged.

Iraqi police in Ishaqi, 100 km north of Baghdad have accused American soldiers of cold bloodedly slaughtering 11 Iraqis - 5 children under school age, 4 women and 2 men. Then their house was blown up.

Chief of the local police, Colonel Farouq Hussein said that it couldn’t have been anything other than a crime because autopsies identified the cause of the victims' deaths as being shot in the head, and with their hands bounded.

A US military spokesman said only 4 were killed including an al Qaeda guerrilla. They died only after US troops were fired on from the house as they arrived to arrest the suspect.

Note the word ‘suspect’ which could be applied to anyone murdered by the Americans. The reference to al Qaeda has been undoubtedly for the benefit of the folks back in the USA because the US military don’t give two hoots about what foreigners, least of all the Iraqis, think.

I saw on TV the scenes of where the 15 Iraqis including a number of children under 5 years of age [of My Lai 2] were slaughtered by the US marines. There were blood splatters all over the walls and ceilings of the houses with bullet holes on the walls. There is no doubt that the killings had been done inside the rooms of the houses and not as a result of so-called crossfire that the marines claimed.

Time magazine said of the Haditha massacre that the US only revised its finding, initially classified as the notorious collateral damage, after being shown the magazine’s video of the corpses and the environment in which they had been slaughteered.
