Australian PM: No Retreat from Iraq

Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard had declared that Australia has not fixed any date for withdrawing its nearly 1400 troops from Iraq. In fact he went further and said it’s wrong to have a withdrawal date.

Most Australians want their troops brought home, or at worst, just in Afghanistan, a country which has more to do with Australia’s region of interest.

But the reality is John Howard is too tied in with the USA to dare utter the ‘W’ word unless Uncle Sam gives his nod. Howard believes that Australia’s defence strategy relies on a supportive USA, and thus dares not annoyed Tai Koh.
