KUALA LUMPUR — Umno has raised RM1 million for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to pay the RM50 million fine required to serve the remainder of his corruption sentence under house arrest.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said as of 9.30am today, the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund has reached RM1 Million.

“Praise be to God! …Continue to contribute even if only RM10,” Asyraf posted on Facebook, along with the bank account number.

Umno launched the fundraising drive yesterday after the Federal Territories Pardons Board announced that Najib had been granted a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house detention until August 23, 2028, subject to payment of the RM50 million fine.

Besides the fine, Najib must also comply with all other conditions imposed, or the pardon may be revoked and he would be sent back to prison.

Various quarters have demanded transparency from the government on the other conditions to be imposed, as well as for the legal framework that allows house arrests.

Najib has, to date, served four years at Kajang Prison for corruption involving RM42 million of SRC International funds. In January 2024, the same pardons board halved his original prison sentence of 12 years and lowered the court’s RM210 million fine to RM50 million. – September 19, 2026

  1. Saudi Arabia too is an Apartheid State.

In Saudi Arabia, the highways have a red sign that marks the path for NON-MUSLIMS. In that country, there are cities where you can't enter if you're not Muslim (Mecca and Medina)

But they can invade Europe and they're welcomed happily.

  2. I guess this is in line with Anwar's philosophy where he said that he was not interested in jailing anybody but to recover assets.

Perhaps UMNO should get its members to continue donating even after the 50 mil has been reached so that Najib can buy his way out of other charges should he be convicted and appeals failed.

The maths is quite straight forward. If UMNO has 3 million members and each member just contribute MR50, the "war chest" is very significant
