SINGAPORE, May 22 — Singapore warned foreign embassies against inciting domestic reactions to international issues after the US and Chinese embassies in the city-state took swipes at each other on Facebook over the South China Sea dispute.

“Complex issues are best resolved through appropriate channels for effective diplomacy,” Singapore’s foreign affairs ministry said in a statement yesterday.

The US embassy in Singapore posted a video on Tuesday comparing China’s stance on the South China Sea dispute to bad behaviour sometimes seen in Singapore’s public housing estates, such as stacking up belongings in common spaces and in front of other residents’ apartments.

China’s embassy responded a day later on Facebook, accusing the US of “putting its own priorities over international rules” by withdrawing from international conventions and organisations, “bullying and coercing other countries” on issues like tariffs, and wanting control of the Panama Canal and Greenland.

In response to media queries, a US embassy spokesperson justified the social media post and said that the embassy presents US government policy and views on issues that affect itself and the entire region.

“Drawing an analogy to the local Singapore context, the video explains the US understanding of the dispute by referencing a phenomenon to which anyone around the world can relate,” the spokesperson said.

  1. Mfering 恶人先告状!

Keep farting about rules based international order as definite by themselves, yet opt out of UNCLOS membership.

Where is US standing on this issue?

'presents US government policy and views on issues that affect itself and the entire region'

Affect US self proclaimed freedom of navigation?

What a mfering fart iff US is following the protocol of freedom of navigation in international date. Sailing around other's EEZ & maritime territories w/o following stated rules r just plain bullying.

That entire region is outside off US jurisdictions & it's up to the surrounding nations to work out solutions based on JUSTIFIABLE facts. Outsider gets the f*ck out of the issues.

  2. For all u 台毒 myrmidons, prepare to cry yr heart out.

Taiwan WOULD most likely be the first Asian territory to be bankrupted in the coming months due to the depreciation of US$ vis-a-vis the NT$. The Taiwan dollar has risen very rapidly within the 1st week of May against the US$ to the tune of 2 basic points & climbing slowly since.

The demise of the Taiwan economy is coming from the US$1+T foreign exchange reserve been cannibalized by the Wall Street financial vurtures via the Formosa bonds issued by the administrator & bought in full by the top 5 insurance companies in Taiwan.

Formosa bond is a pseudo bond with Taiwan's accumulated foreign US$ assets backings but issued with NT$ nominal value. These bonds r configured by the Taiwan administrator to avoid US labelling them as tools of US$ manipulation & force down the coffers of those big Taiwnese insurance companies.

With rising NT$ & depreciating US$, these bonds have value mismatch that the hedge fund vultures can manipulated vis-a-vis the similar downfall of SKorea economy in 08.
