India uses arrival of new Fighter jets to warn China

The first five Rafale fighter jets bought from France in a multi-billion-dollar deal landed in India on Wednesday and the defence minister used their arrival to launch a veiled warning to neighbouring China over territorial tensions.

A water-cannon guard of honour greeted the five jets when they landed at the Ambala air base in Haryana state. An intense nationwide spotlight on the combat jets has been sharpened by a deadly border standoff with China.

India has bought 36 Rafale fighters from France in a deal estimated to be worth US$9.4 billion. All are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2021.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the combat jets’ arrival marked “the beginning of a new era in our military history”.

The jets will make the Indian Air Force “much stronger to deter any threat that may be posed on our country”, he added in a series of tweets.

He did not directly name China but media and observers said his comments were clearly aimed at the neighbouring giant.

“If it is anyone who should be worried about or critical about this new capability of the Indian Air Force, it should be those who want to threaten our territorial integrity,” Singh declared.

Indian and Chinese forces have been in a six-week-long standoff on their Himalayan border since a hand-to-hand battle in which 20 Indian troops were killed. China also suffered casualties in the showdown but has not given figures.

The two sides blame each other for the clash in the Ladakh region and have since moved thousands of troops there while pursuing talks that they say aim to ease the tensions.

India acknowledges it is behind China and other key nations in military firepower, and the purchase of the Rafale jets is one of many made in a bid to bolster its 1.4 million-strong army.

New Delhi has also been eager to update its ageing fighter-jet force amid tensions with nuclear-armed neighbours China and Pakistan.

DAP: Don't challenge against compulsory Jawi signboards

国内新闻光华日报| 1910年创刊创新每一天生活

Earlier, Tras ADUN Chow Yu Hui lodged a court challenge against Pahang's directive that all sign boards carry Jawi script which must be equal in size to other language scripts with effect from 01 January 2020. Non-compliance carries a fine and/or possible loss of business licences for subsequent violations.

Chow said the directive doesn't make sense for places whose clients can't read Jawi, eg. bah-kut-teh shops.

But today two young DAP leaders eff-ed his biadab-ness, saying his legal challenge was unnecessary. DAP Youth Boss Howard Lee Chuan How and rising political star Marina Ibrahim eff-ed him kaukau. Marina's tweet was to the point, to wit: "Can shut up?"

This is exactly what Malaysiakini columnist Commander (rtd) S Thayaparan called the DAP leadership not having the nerve to ever "spook the Malays". That doctrine has become worse since May 2018, wakakaka.

I've eff-ed up ........

It's true nothing effs up socialism and reformasi like a taste of ruling power.

Azmin meets Mahathir at Putra Mosque today!!!

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is pictured at the Putra Mosque for Aidiladha prayers in Putrajaya July 31, 2020. — Picture by Shafwan Zaidon

Could it be just a coincidence that Ass-binte met Atuk today when performing Aidilladha at Masjid Putra?

Mahathir has NEVER criticised Azmin for the treachery but only whimpered he was disappointed with his blue-eyed budak, a person he was suspected of grooming to take over from him rather than his (bullshit) promise to hand over to Anwar.

Anwar better watch out for more skulduggery, wakakaka.

Musa shows he has the numbers but too late

Malaysiakini:

Musa shows he has the numbers but too late

Court dismisses Musa Aman's appeal in 'rightful Sabah CM' case ...

Musa has posted a photo on Facebook as proof that he has the numbers needed to form a state government.

He again insists that the governor had a constitutional duty to consider his bid to form the state government."But if it's true the state assembly has been dissolved, I honestly say that we will fight in the coming election to give the people of Sabah a new government that is stable and fights for the interest of all Sabahans," he says

Too late mate. Shafie Apdal did what could only be done in Sabah - blocking access to the Yang DiPertuan Negeri to deny Musa Aman any opportunity to show he has the confidence of the majority of the Sabah State Assembly, and dissolving the DUN thus evoking a snap election - yes, t'was another 'backdoor' manoeuvre, wakakaka.

Maybe it's for the best as a one-seat majority would be pretty unstable for a Musa government. Here's the opportunity for Musa to re-demonstrate Shafie Apdal could only form a Warisan state government in May 2018 via the notorious backdoor with BN frogs by winning the state elections again.

Umno snubs Perikatan in favour of Muafakat

MM Online:

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced today that his party will not join the informal Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition that controls the federal government.

He said his party will instead focus on developing the Muafakat Nasional (MN) partnership with PAS and the rest of Barisan Nasional (BN).

The announcement comes two days after former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak was convicted on all counts in his SRC International corruption trial.

The ramifications of his announcement are not immediately clear as Ahmad Zahid indicated that his party’s lawmakers would continue to support the PN administration both federally and in the states it governs.

“Support for the Perikatan Nasional government is only based on the backing of Umno and BN elected representatives to form the federal government and some state administrations,” he said in a press conference.

The remarks suggest that Umno’s support for the ruling PN was now strictly in terms of confidence and supply.

However, Ahmad Zahid stressed that this decision did not mean PN no longer commanded majority support in Parliament, saying that it was purely about his party’s entry into the coalition.

He also confirmed that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had met with several BN lawmakers in Parliament yesterday to express Bersatu’s interest in joining MN.

Ahmad Zahid said PAS, the other major component of the informal alliance, must study this first.

The Umno president also reiterated that his party and PAS already resolved previously that their priority would be to develop MN.

“I will leave it to MN’s central committee to consider Bersatu’s intention to join, in the event that this could reinforce MN for the good of the people and country.”

When asked how long it would take to decide Bersatu’s entry, the Umno president said it would only come after Aidiladha celebrations were completed.

Ahmad Zahid had hinted at today’s announcement shortly after Najib became the first Malaysian ex-prime minister to ever be convicted of a crime on Tuesday.

When asked if there was any connection between this decision and Najib’s conviction, Zahid declined to say.

“That is up to you to interpret,” he said.

Muhyiddin’s support in Parliament has already been exposed as tenuous, after his government barely managed to replace the House Speaker by just two votes.

The inability to count on Umno’s support beyond confidence and supply would make it virtually impossible for PN to legislate effectively.

Najib is first ex-PM to be convicted | The Star

But there are 3 questions to be asked for UMNO-PAS joining PPBM in the PN coalition, namely:

(a) What benefits or disadvantages will there be for UMNO-PAS in terms of power sharing and seats allocation for GE15 (leaving aside the greater issues existing between UMNO and PAS)?

(b) Who will be the 'leader' of such a PN coalition? Muhyiddin, Hadi Awang, Zahid, or even Atuk?

(c) How will power sharing affect UMNO's future?

Thus, will it be better for PPBM to return to UMNO's fold but then what will be Muhyiddin's fate?

Najib excoriates Shafie for kiasu-ness in dissolving the Sabah state assembly

Najib told Shafie (sarcastically) that the later should look after his new role of PM-to-be in Pakatan Plus, instead of calling for a kiasu dissolving of the Sabah state assembly and a snap election. He reminded Shafie of the latter's backdoor govt in 2018 when Shafie became CM through the help of BN frogs.

Najib slams Shafie for moving to dissolve state assembly | Free ...

Najib said t'was a bit too rich for Shafie to claim the call of a snap election in Sabah was to protect the people's mandate from being robbed when the mandate was already robbed by Shafie in 2018 following GE14.
