Miracle of Permatang Pauh - fuel price drop!

So ….. Malaysiakini told us what we have been expecting … ;-) … a fuel price drop just in time for the Permatang Pauh by-election day - wakakaka

The headlines screamed Gov't slashes petrol price by 15 sen, where the Malaysiakini news article reported PM AAB giving the rationale … yadda yadda … for the reduction in fuel prices.

Such a political attempt to gain an advantage (usually near an election) is a universal practice, and not only unique to Malaysia ….. but what will be the voters’ reaction to the announcement?

Leaving aside those acolytes, party faithful and supporters already committed on both sides of the political fence, some would be cynical about the coincidental lowering of fuel price whilst a few may be ‘persuaded’ ….. and every bit of such ‘a few persuaded’ matters lots, and would be most welcomed by Arif Shah, the BN candidate, in his battle against his by-election opponent, the Godzilla of Malaysian politics.

Immediately Anwar Ibrahim responded, stating the obvious reason for the lowering of the fuel price.

Then he added: "The government can reduce it further if it can be more transparent in its financial management, eliminate leakages, wastages and corruption."

Earlier there were accusations of our Olympic silver medallist Lee being ‘used’ to boost the BN credentials, and no doubt about it, there's substance in those accusstions, but Penang’s CM Lim GE also upped the ante by promising a Datukship to the young badminton star.

They say “all’s fair in love and war” but you may bet that nothing was, has been, is, nor will be ‘fair’ in the very sense of the word as we understand it.

But that's what makes election campaigning interesting, with plenty of material for kongsamkok indulgence at kopitiam around the country.

At a personal level, I don’t like the idea of awarding Datukship to young people like badminton or squash stars, or a cross-English channel swimmer. Maybe a medal of some high order (in the sporting class) would do.

I had hoped that with a DAP government in the Penang seat, the practice of Datukship would be curtailed if not stopped entirely.

My only consolation is that in a DAP Penang, at least the Datukships aren’t being ‘sold’ like ta pau (bungkus; packaged) nasi lemak to rich but undeserving (or even dodgy) candidates.

Anyway enough of serious talk - it being a Saturday, what about a story on fuel, and gasp, gawd, omigosh it has a Catholic flavour to it too ;-) – so I dedicate it specially to the Catholic sweeties - wakakaka.

***

Sister X* Teresa L* - ;-) I know two, wakakaka – from Holy Spirit Penang, was out making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of fuel.

Due to high fuel price she had put in only the minimum in her tank, but failed to recall that the last time she visited a petrol station was some days ago.

As luck would have it, a Petronas petrol station was just a short distance away. She walked to the station to borrow a petrol can and buy some fuel.

But the attendant (a Burmese migrant worker who was formerly a doctor - wakakaka) told her that the only petrol can he owned had been loaned out, but could Sis wait until it was returned?

Since Sister Teresa was on the way to see a senior citizen, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car. Being a resourceful sweetie (of the church, of course - wakakaka) she looked for something in her car that she could use as a substitute to the petrol can.

Aha, she spotted the brand new bedpan she had promised, and purchased for, the senior citizen she would be visiting. Well, Sis thought, “I’ll use this; I can always wash it later".

So the sweet Sister carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with petrol, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.

As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two Baptists watched from across the street.

One of them turned to the other and said, "If it starts, I'm turning Catholic."

7 loaves and fish ... and a bedpan of petrol! ;-)

Hallelujah!

  1. Which ever way, all Malaysian Brothers, whatever they are going to say now, even if they reduce the price of petrol to $1.50, abolish income tax, free education, open up UiTM and all that is hogging the lime light, I have this to tell you as I am not involved in this election nor was I in the past few …… ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Mr Khairy, you may sound very convincing and look like an angel with all your talks … having worked and known politicians from both sides, including PAS, DAP, I am amused and think you are really thick skin. Yes you can resign from UMNO Youth, who would not do it after all this maybe UMNO’s death. If UMNO is not buried this time, I am very sure they will be buried and all members buried alive in a landslide the next GE.

But Mr Khairy, does it matter to you, I have since labeled you as a VIP Begger and knowing in Sarawak, there is money to be made, you are eyeing the goodies here.

Let me know when you come, I am sure, I will pelt rotten eggs at you as your company cause me to lose and cheated me of RM60.00 for collecting service charge that was not delivered!!!

I wait for you and please be a gentlement and announce your visit to Kuching.

At the end of the day, I tell you and all Malaysians this:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND MAYBE ALL TO GAIN BY THROWING OUT BARISAN NASIONAL STARTING WITH PERMATANG PAUH.

WE HAVE TRUSTED BN FOR 50 YEARS AND FOR MY CASE, EVER SINCE I STARTED WORK 30 YEARS AGO.

BUT, WE DO NOT SEEM TO MOVE FORWARD AND THIS MEANS WE HAVE GAMBLED AWAY THE BETTER PART OF OUR LIVE WITH BN. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IN THE PAST 10 YEARS, WE SEEM TO BE MOVING BACKWARDS AND WITH RECENT INFLATION, THIS IN ITSELF IS ALREADY THE INDICATOR THAT WE ARE NOT PROGRESSING WITH SHRINKING DOLLAR IN OUR POCKET AND QUALITY OF LIVE BEING AFFECTED AS WELL.

So fellow Malaysians, do not believe them any more, trust what I am telling you now, I rather gamble with a convict who have serve his time and realise and now know what is good than this bunch of Politicians in our government who are spoon fed or from poor backgrounds out to be a millionaire overnight at our expense.

VOTE DATUK SERI ANWAR NOW IS MY CALL AND THROW OUT BN. IF YOU ARE FROM PENANG, YOU WILL ALSO KNOW WHERE THE BN CANDICATE GOT HIS MONEY FROM. IF HE CAN TALK ABOUT HIS PHD FROM A BOGUS UNIVERSITY, AND RETRACT IT, THIS ALREADY SPEAKS VOLUMNE OF HIS INTERGRITY.

Ask any human resource lecturer or anyone involved in Human Resource Counselling or a person incharge of hiring and interviewing prospective employee, they are very sure a an important thing they are always on the look out would be “Past Behaviour”. This is very important as “Old Habits die hard, especially in telling white lies”

So with the recent lie dished out by Pek Mo in this by election, I am very sure he will lie and forever continue to lie (afterall, he have done it thinking we are all stupid and will do it again thinking we will not know).

I wish I can change my voting right to Permatang Pauh and give my one vote to Perkatan Rakyat and get my friends in Penang to do so, afterall, we have seen so many manipulations and billions of dollars flow in to cronies account in the past!!!

Once again, go for a gamble, vote Pakatan Rakyat and ask your family members, friends to do it …. even educated government servants in Sarawak are asking after the last price increase … “Do you still want or dare vote for Barisan”???

And with recent events affecting us … I am asking by friends and fellow Malaysian Brothers do you still want to vote for Barisan Nasional and suffer again.

GO FOR IT, DO IT FOR YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR FUTURE GENERATIONS PUT DATUK SERI ANWAR IN PARLIAMENT AND SEE WHAT HE DO FOR 5 YEARS, AFTERWALL WE HAVE SEEN AND SUFFERED FOR 50 YEARS. HOW MANY MALAYS HAVE LIVE ABOVE POVERTY LEVEL IN THIS 50 YEARS? 15% IS MY GUESS???

  2. Dear Anonymous

Do you know what is the price of petrol per liter in Norway an oil producing country ?
Can you also tell me what is the inflation rate in these countries Saudi Arabia , Kuwait , Yemen all oil producing countries ?

You seem filled with rage with the company causing you to lose and cheated you of RM60.00 for collecting service charge that was not delivered!!!
Come and see me I'll give you $60 as donation from me to you .

WE HAVE TRUSTED BN FOR 50 YEARS AND FOR MY CASE, EVER SINCE I STARTED WORK 30 YEARS AGO.

BN was not formed 50 years ago , 50 years ago it was the Alliance or Phang choon and the rot did not start from there . It started during TDM's watch 22 years ago !!

If you cannot make it or strike it rich on your own , don't blame the gomen blame your ownself .As what John Kennedy said "Ask not what the country can do for you but what you can do for the country !

  3. By the way , fuel price drop is expected and to be evaluated as announced on the first of every month , so perhaps this is a bit early but who cares ? Maybe one more on sept 1st ?as long as the crude oil keeps coming down !and I can save some money !

  4. The PM has been consistent in his flip-flop inconsistency.

He first said no way will they reduce petrol prices b4 Sept 1.

    Now, with Permatamg Pauh
'stragedy' in Saiful, he is clutching at straws with 15 cents.

    What a loser!!

  6. At the end of the day, the peoples are the real loser, being played out previously by BN and now PR. Once I have high hope on PR, but no more after seeing their main intention.

For PKR, Anwar is to become PM by hook or by crook, nothing else matter. Why so impatient to become PM, the reason is simple, to finish off the black gold and whatever is left. All the multiracial talks and people's welfare form PKR are gimmick, they are for all intents and purposes to win votes and get into power. They are nothing but plain suckers.

DAP have lost their identity and their vision of Malaysian First, they have become the Marketing Agent of Anwar to become PM and the welfare of the people come second. I am asking DAP people, how could this have happened?

Its is now apparent clear that PAS is for Islamic state and Malay dominance

PR is just like a new house being built and the new house come out shiny and bright and its looks wonderful, this is what PR peoples have been selling, however underneath, the foundation was not laid correctly and cracks already appeared on the wall of the house. But instead of fixing the foundation, PR people patch the wall and put a new coat of paint over it to deceive the people from knowing that the foundation was not strong. But can that house stand the test of time?

It is insane to gamble and stay in a house with weak foundation and I hope the people of Permatang Pauh weight more on the foundation rather than the beauty of the house which eventually will collapse.

  8. alamak! that fuel story is an old joke that had been around for ages lah. another version is that the catholic nun used a liquor bottle.

the lowering of fuel price indeed has something to do with the by-election. read anil netto's analysis of world crude oil price - not much difference.

  11. Hi Chaptokam,

Born and raise up in Jelutong, some where at the end of Perak Road and beginning of Jelutong. Stay at Bayan Baru for a couple of years and now reside at Island Glades.

Use to vote for Gerakan until Tun Dato' Seri Lim Chong Eu was demolished by YB Lim Kit Seang. Still support Koh Tsu Koon, but only one term after seeing that KTK was weak and cannot handle UMNO. Shift to support DAP and the last election our family of 6 votes went to PKR in Bayan Baru as I have not change the electoral address.

Never supported MCA due the leadership but may change my mind if Ong Keat Tee become MCA president.

The leader I admire most is Lim Chong Eu and the opposition leader I respect most is Tan Chee Koon.

  12. Hi xiean

good , may have some good things coming , will keep this in mind . We voted out our own Ong Ka Ting's candidates in the last election . There might be another candidate going for president in the coming party election . I might need support later on on things like what we are doing now . Hope to meet up with you one of these days .
