Sweeties, then some cop it sweet!

Re the Post-Election Analysis organised by MYKMU.net

It seems my lovely Hartal sweetie has been spot on about the mainstream media (MSM) giving us the 'truth, the whole truth and anything but the truth' ;-), though another sweetie acknowledged that the Star was pretty decent in telling us Khir Toyo was resoundingly boo-ed each time he attempted to say anything - yeah, I bet! ;-)

Sweetie No 2 revealed to kaytee, who alas was away drinking champagne in a faraway land (hey, someone gotta do the hard job lah) that the questions flung at the speakers during the forum were super frank and to the point. No one got a free ride – sweetie used a more delicate phrase like 'the cat was very much belled' which could also mean the mice felt unconstrained enough to come out to play. Must be fun ;-)

While most at the forum wanted AAB to retire ;-) the question of succession became the big mystery. Will the the
UMNO Da Vinci code be buggered;-) as I had asked in an earlier post Political snippets - 02 April 2008?

But sweetie whispered in my ears that the atmosphere at the forum was charged with expectation, yes man, expectation for BIG changes, not mere dabbling around.

In fact in the same vein, Dr Chris Anthony has high expectation for a new Malaysian standard in politics in his letter to Malaysiakini titled Paving the way for a two-party system, where he acclaimed the formation of the Pakatan Rakyat, comprising DAP, PKR and PAS.

Visitor novice101 has left a new comment on my post UMNO Youth No 1 - Mukhriz Mahathir, Khir Toyo & KJ... where he said: "From the way the rakyat had voted, [they are definitely] saying [they want] to see a different Malaysia, one where all receive equal treatment and enjoy equal opportunities in education, job allocation and in business." ........

"The rakyat, must through their acts and statements, set examples for the politicians to follow. They must be prepared to demand change from them, be bold enough to correct, reprimand and chastise them through all channels available." ........

"The rakyat is just reacting happily to the outcome of the election, happy to see the birth of a 2-party system of government. It's just a normal human expression of exuberance."

Yes, it seems everyone wants a two-party system. But a two party system demands a high level of political maturity, with less venomous polemics, more policies rather than personalities, and due democratic process rather than dodgy deceitful programs (eg. like frog hunting).

The due diligence has to be from both sides.

It seems an unlikely star was discovered at the forum in the person of Dr Fuad Zarkarshi who was apparently bloody good. I quote a sweetie, that Dr Fuad expressed his belief UMNO ought to do more to attract young people, and wunderbar, UMNO must also think of other races when implementing the NEP, as this would be the only way forward.

Seems he struck the right chord because sweetie said he was cheered for his statesman-like thinking. Bloody hell, I am beginning to get jealous of Dr Fuad liao!

The bright side of it at the forum was that many of the younger set, and thus more idealistic ones, had rejected the bitter partisan politics.

On another issue, it looks like the MSM is still playing BN internal politics by siding the AAB camp because they weren't very kind to Dr M. As I understand, at the forum he openly took full responsibility for his mistakes, but the MSM blacked that out.

Talking about that, maybe I might pop over to a florist shop and kiss Hartal sweetie for her accurate prediction of a rotten MSM.

Yes, famous blogger Jeff Ooi used to boast of his birdies; but poor kaytee can only whisper of his sweeties ha ha ha ha ha!

  2. Actually, KayTee, you are a famous as Jeff Ooi - with your given brand of chosen "Agony and the Ecstasy".

Note, I've not used the term "derangement syndrome", being mindful of the angst and distress that they may cause poor old MBS matey. :D

  4. Yes, Khir Toyo got resoundingly booed at the Mykmu forum - and deserved it. He was very much part of the UMNO/BN sleaze machine before this. Is he part of the solution now ?
I hear some people keep saying a leopard can't change his spots - but it seems only with regard to certain individuals. Is Khir Toyo the new Teflon man? ..hehehehehehe..

Every internal crisis which UMNO faced in the past was defended at least partly through more "Ketuanan Melayu" and more Islamisation.

When UMNO talks about reform, it is not the reform that most non-Malays or DAP/PRK talk about. The primary concern is about personalities - getting rid of Dollah and SIL. Most of the rank and file still think if they can fix the leadership problem, they can go back to business as usual.

That, of course, will cede even more of the middle ground to PKR...which will give Kaytee even more insomnia....kekekekek...

  5. "As I understand, at the forum he (Mahathir) openly took full responsibility for his mistakes, but the MSM blacked that out"

    No, Kaytee, he did not.

I don't like the MSM, but don't blame them for something they didn't do.

  6. Ezam Mohd Noor wants Mahatir to be taken to Kamuting. Kaytee, whats your take?

Gerak blames Dr M for crisis in the judiciary.

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerak, an anti-corruption non-governmental organisation, fully supports a probe into Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's alleged interference in the governance system.

Its chairman, Ezam Mohd Nor, said Dr Mahathir was to be blamed for the crisis in the judiciary, police and Anti-Corruption Agency.

He said putting the blame on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was illogical.

"His (Abdullah's) administration did not create our mess overnight. He inherited the system from his predecessor.

"To move forward as a nation, we must rectify the deficiency in our system by looking at the root cause and attacking it head-on."

He said the proposal to establish a royal commission to overhaul the system on the appointment of judges was welcomed to avoid corruption.

Ezam said a recent statement in a local newspaper by former United Nations special rapporteur Datuk Param Cumaraswamy showed how Dr Mahathir was complicit in damaging the governance system.

He said based on former ACA director-general Datuk Shafee Yahya's testimony in the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial in June 2000, there was sufficient evidence to investigate Dr Mahathir for abuse of power and interference of justice.

"If the ex-president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, can stand trial for abuse of power and corruption, so can Dr Mahathir," he said.

Ezam, a former key associate of Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, resigned from all party posts in February last year due to political differences with the top leadership.

Param had said Shafee had testified before the then High Court justice Ariffin Jaka in Anwar's trial in June 2000 that the former prime minister had ordered him to close a file.

He said Param produced the records of the trial as "sufficient evidence" to show that Dr Mahathir had interfered with the duties and responsibilities of the ACA.

He also said several parties had later, in the interests of justice, lodged police reports over Dr Mahathir's alleged interference in the ACA's probe.

  7. What ‘UMNO Da Vinci code’ ?
The first PM was Abdul Rahman.
    The 2nd Abdul Razak.
I have no problems with the 3rd – Hussain, 4th and the 5th.
However Najib’s name is Mohd. Najib and if you are going to choose the N from Najib, then Abdul Razak BagiNda qualifies as well.

    ReplyDelete
  8. peter, you said "Najib’s name is ..." confirms the code - ha ha ha!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ha, ha, ha. For Abdul Razak you take the A from Abdul whereas, for his son Mohd. Najib you want to take N from Najib. It should be the first letter from the first name or the first letter from the second name. Cant have your cake and eat it too and call it a code.

  10. Najib and Jarjis...well they sound like a modified ROT 13 type of 'encrypted' Code.
