Netizens mock Hannah Yeoh’s call on anti-corruption, cite Pakatan’s poor record

EARLIER today, former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member Rais Hussin tweeted on corruption, saying “when corruption wins, the country loses”.

Having said that, he also challenged Malaysian politicians to retweet it if they were really concerned of graft issues in Malaysia.

DAP MP Hannah Yeoh took up the challenge but at the same time told Rais that tweeting about corruption alone would not work.

“Re-tweeting this is easy but corruption isn’t fought this way. You need strong political will to reform, a relentless civil society to pressure, civil service who is tired of those who dip their hands in and a society resisting convenience this way,” the Segambut lawmaker added.

However, several netizens shot back at the DAP leader, saying Pakatan Harapan itself did little on combatting corruption while in power for 22-months before it was toppled early last year.

User @maniletchumanan believed that “strong political will” was just a hallucination as whichever party that takes over the nation’s administration only caters to corporate interests and other vested groups.

Amidst all the criticism against Yeoh and Pakatan, C4 Center executive director Cynthia Gabriel defended Yeoh and supported her statement. — Nov 28, 2021

Nothing was done on corruption. Bossku was charged because he was a political opponent. Corruption in PH, NFA.

From the comments above, rakyat can see this about PH. Action was only taken against opponents. No real reforms.
